Don’t know really, as I say, just looking at wax pros & cons at the moment, and trying to liberate the slow cooker. I probably won’t wax all chains on all bikes, plus the ultrasonic is handy for cleaning other stuff too.

    Thank you, although it’s not

Thank you, although it’s not all about size apparently(!), the extra width means I can fit the MTB cassette in. Also I was expecting some stick about the “easy” gears and looking back at the photo, I forgot to hide the disc brake cleaner. Joking aside, the fact that in 2020 I got permanently based at home for work instead of an hour each way daily commute in my van meant I had the time to refurb my garage.

Well originally I bought a small one from Lidl, was made for jewellery, etc and was OK for a chain but not much else. Couldn’t fit a cassette in (road bikes 32, MTB 42, I’m 53, sorry can’t do smaller). I then bought a 10 litre which fits everything in just fine and has a heater and this is better although obviously uses much more cleaner. So now I generally clean off most of the muck & lube with something like Morgan Blue or Muc-Off in an old Quality Street tub with a paintbrush and then ultrasonic at 40 deg C in water and a tiny amount of washing up liquid. Has worked great so far and extended the life of drivetrains. Chain needs a proper lube afterwards though and am investigating the repurposing of an old slow cooker crockpot for waxing.

Let me know when the revolution is coming, I’ll need time to ready the trebuchet and oil the longbow.

An interesting point and why one can’t polarise leave/remain, left/right, capitalist/socialist positions as mutually exclusive.

Tony Benn of course campaigned in the 1975 EEC referendum alongside Enoch Powell on the “out” side, Jeremy Corbyn’s EU views are long known, and Mick Lynch and the RMT advised members to vote leave in 2016. Ken Clarke is very much a europhile and campaigned to join the single currency.

What, a cyclist? Because frankly that’s all I care about within the context of a discussion forum on a cycling website.

    Some online retailers supply

Some online retailers supply (often reduced price) OEM components, i.e. they’re intended for bike builds rather than retail. I’ve had lots of Shimano components from Merlin previously arriving in plain non-display packaging and have had no doubts as to their provenance.

Just my experience & opinion, your mileage may vary, etc etc.

    Your ideal pressure will

Your ideal pressure will depend on a number of things, including total weight of bike & rider, internal rim width, tyre width, whether rims are hookless or not, whether you’re going tubeless or not. Probably more but that’s off the top of my head.

    The Specialized Diverge may

The Specialized Diverge may be worth a look, it’s fairly road focussed, but if you’re building from a frameset, you have different options, I’ve made mine a little more trail oriented by changing out the groupset to Shimano GRX and running 38mm tubeless at 35psi, very smooth.

I’m certain that Laka are not

I’m certain that Laka are not related in any way to Sundays.

    Are you sure that’s Laka?

Are you sure that’s Laka? Their policy wording is in the PDF on the URL I previously posted, and it’s been like that for ages. I was curious about your wording being so different and I Googled a section of it – came back virtually word-for-word with Directline’s policy wording. https://www.directline.com/cycling-insurance/approved-locks

I tried insuring with Directine before, they wouldn’t go near the value of the bikes and I thought their requirements were fairly onerous given the security already in the house, hence why I thought Laka were being realistic.

    Almost certainly the same

Almost certainly the same policy – locks only apply if away from home or a private storage location not publicly accessible. I have a locked garage which is part of my house. See 7.2.
