I use Laka myself, you don’t

I use Laka myself, you don’t pay a premium as such, you pay retrospectively every month your share of what was paid out on the previous month, plus a percentage admin fee and tax. They set a cap which is not exceeded (they re-insure or lay off with Zurich). No excess, no postcode loading and bikes do not have to be locked if they’re in the house or internal garage, or inside a locked vehicle. Covers third party liability including events (providing you’re not paid to appear e.g. pro cyclist).

Not had to claim ever and that of course is the true test but overall I think a better way of doing it, what has happened rather than what might happen.

    Further to hirsute’s

Further to hirsute’s suggestion, if you your friend visits a Specialized store or dealer, their saddles have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee, you can try and return for a credit towards an alternative saddle if it doesn’t suit.

I often think that special forces must be the largest component of the UK Armed Forces, judging by the sheer number of people who claim to have “served”.

    When trying different brands

When trying different brands of nutrition, stay local and make it shortish, the time to find out that a particular bar or gel doesn’t agree with you is not 70 miles into a century sportive…

    I would advise not equipping

I would advise not equipping yourself for this purpose, you could end up far worse off if a driver takes umbrage and retaliates with a swerve, or gets out with a bat. Get a camera and report them instead.

I think the OP is referring

I think the OP is referring to the discontinued Varia Vision head up display. AFAIK the first Edge unit to not support it is the 1040, but can’t be certain it’s still supported on the x30 units. Nice idea, I used to have one but found it difficult to use on Oakley Jawbreakers, plus my riding chums would rib me for having a Borg implant on my head.

    There’s a whole range of

There’s a whole range of offences that can fall under “Construction & Use” (CU endorsement code) that a driver could be done for if a police officer so wished, I’ve seen someone get a fine for having a slightly misted up rear window after failing the roadside “attitude test” and getting mouthy with a police officer.

    I suppose another way of

I suppose another way of looking at it is not as a £3k bike, take out the cost of the battery & motor, and it’s more of a £1k bike, for example Tektro brakes, Shimano Deore drivetrain, Suntour fork. None of this is bad, I’m just saying that in order to produce a sub-£3k hardtail eMTB, some compromises have to be made in specification. Still, I would have thought that you’d have had more longevity out of the hub though, so good luck with the seller, and I hope it gets sorted.

When I did IAM Skills For Life Advanced Driver years ago, the examiner (Police class 1 instructor) advised me after I’d passed to think of driving as “formation flying with hundreds of people you’ve never met” – then said that less than 2% of drivers on UK roads have done this, terrifying thought really.

Checked your cable paths, especially under the BB? Or could it have stretched slightly?

Di2 so no cable stretch, bent hanger is all I can think of. Still worth checking with an alignment tool, even if visually OK, can still be out enough to affect shifting.

My money would be on a bent

My money would be on a bent derailleur hanger – simple enough to check. With the bike in the stand, check it visually from the back, the cage should be perpendicular to the ground. Then check with a mech hanger tool, instructions available elsewhere but basically you bolt it in place of the derailleur and check distance at 0, 90, 180, 270 degrees, gently bending the hanger in the right direction until gap is consistent. You’ll probably have to re-adjust the derailleur when you put it back on. There’s a chance of course it can’t be bent back, in which case it will need to be replaced, typically £20 and is a sacrificial part to protect the dropouts and stays.

Or just take it to a bike shop and drink their coffee while an expert makes the problem just go away.

To be fair, it is titled “Should you buy your wheels direct from China”. There’s mention of returns going to a local distributor in each country though, so it’d be useful to know if there is one for the UK.

    UK distributor https://www.revolution-wheels.co.uk/

Although then that’s not “buy your wheels direct from China.”
