"Now I can better target cyclists": Motorist shares photo of dashboard gunsight

Now i can better target cyclists pic.twitter.com/jXIFWETnbX

— antto – kevyt laktoositon (@anttoretu) December 11, 2021

This thread makes pretty grim reading for your Wednesday morning…

Some amateur reg plate detective work means we reckon this is from Finland, where one motorist bragged about their new gunsight set-up on their dashboard meaning they can “better target cyclists”.

The replies sadly got worse, with a couple saying that’s what the Mercedes star on the bonnet is designed for…while the sight driver justified their actions by arguing, “We have good routes for cycling and still some idiots cycle on the road.”

Two accounts, both with cartoon avatars, one claiming to be German, the other from Ukraine took it further…maybe it’s our mistake for paying attention to anonymous trolls, but anyway…

One commented: “It should be the goal of every driver to hit at least one cyclist while driving.”

The other said: “You just run them over that’s what you do.”

Closer to home, last week the owner of a van in Greater Manchester, pictured with spiked wing mirrors, denied the modification was designed to harm cyclists. Jonathan Tomney said it was to deter vandals from stealing parts of his car…”I just hope that if one of the little b******s tries to take my wing mirror again they’ll sever their hand.”

Hairpin porn

1/ Just for fun, I am going to list some of my favourite cycling climbs for hairpin lovers: first has to be the old cobble Tremola road up the south side of Gotthard Pass (Switzerland) #cycling #hairpins (3rd photo angle taken from inside the galleria tunnel of main road). pic.twitter.com/Rd9oJ5rjOx

All the switchbacks you could ever wish to see…and not a Box Hill in sight…of course you’ve got to have the big dogs…the Stelvio…

Alpe d’Huez…

But what about some lesser-known hidden gems for hairpin lovers…

2/ The amazing 46 hairpins up to Col de Tende (French side, Italian name is Colle di tenda). Also, great unpaved military ridge roads above — first photo taken from an old fort. pic.twitter.com/53FTujXIA4

11/ @friebos called it the holy grail of cycling. Colle del Sommeiller has roughly 50 hairpins. Unpaved higher up. Fabulous. The summit is 2993 metres, so I hiked 7 metres higher with my bike to reach 3000m (4th photo). 1st photo shows how beautiful this climb is. pic.twitter.com/qifc6naszD

— cyclingchallenge (@cyclingalps) December 14, 2021

I’ll give all the kudos in the world to any of you lot who have ridden any of those…the bucket list is now a couple of climbs longer…

Complete an Everesting without leaving home...RGT Cycling announces 2022 Everesting Challenge with World Bicycle Relief

Free to use virtual cycling platform RGT has announced its 2022 Everesting Challenge — a 31-day window to climb the cumulative altitude of Mount Everest (8,448m). Okay, okay, I hear you…that’s technically not an Everesting if it’s not all climbed in one ride, but hey, it’s in January with all the excess Christmas weight, be my guest if you want to do it all in one ride. The rest of us will just be happy to rack it up by February 1…

The challenge is in partnership with Hells 500, the creators of Everesting.CC, as well as World Bicycle Relief, the non-profit organisation dedicated to mobilising people through the power of bicycles. It’s a fundraising challenge, so you can start the year getting fit for a good cause.

RGT Cycling’s Head of Brand and Marketing James Vickers said: “Now that we’re firmly back into indoor riding season in the Northern Hemisphere we hope riders see this challenge as a fun way to maintain motivation through the winter months, whilst also raising funds to support the incredible work that World Bicycle Relief does around the globe.”

Fancy it?

New pro kit: Movistar go dark

🆕👕💙 Os presentamos la equipación 2022 de Movistar Team, creada por @lapassionecc.

😊🌟 @AvVleuten, @alejanvalverde, @emmanorsgaard1, @EnricMasNicolau, @SamartinmartinA and @MatteoJorg sporting their new kit for 2022! Looking forward to next year.#RodamosJuntos | @Telefonica pic.twitter.com/90LexwO2Yg

— Movistar Team (@Movistar_Team) December 15, 2021

Trek-Segafredo went white, Movistar have joined the dark side with their first La Passione kit. Alejandro Valverde and Annemiek van Vleuten get a splash of extra colour with their world champ’s stripes on the sleeve, but otherwise it looks like an homage to Manchester City’s dreadful no logo third kit…okay, fair enough, it’s better than Puma’s effort…

Anyone remember what happened to Shaun Bailey?

People seem to seriously be asking how Shaun Bailey’s London mayoral campaign team could have done something this stupid.

I must point out that Shaun Bailey’s London mayoral campaign team also took him campaigning in Brentwood, where they don’t have a vote as it’s not in London. pic.twitter.com/doC2mgCXWX

— Tom Peck (@tompeck) December 15, 2021

It’s funny how things work out sometimes…at the back end of last year Tory London mayoral candidate Shaun Bailey was spouting about restoring the roads of the capital to motorists.

His campaign included verbal attacks on LTNs, including a bizarre video comparing the schemes to the Tour de France. Aye, because we all remember the time Tadej Pogačar dropped Richard Carapaz with a sneaky attack around a planter.

Bailey lost the campaign, but was back in the papers yesterday after he was pictured at one of the Tories’ definitely not a party last December…he has since quit as chair of City Hall’s police and crime committee…

Episode 2 of The Wolfpack Insider: Tour de France

Need some lunchtime viewing? Deceuninck-Quick-Step have delivered the goods with the second episode of their behind the scenes series from the Tour de France. It’s got all the Cav content you could possibly need as the Manx Missile’s stage-winning run continued into the second week.

Times have certainly improved for Cav since this was taken…

Time has been good to all of us… but that ain’t saying much.

Tadej Pogačar adds Tour of Flanders debut to 2022 programme — will ride four of five Monuments

What does Tadej Pogačar do when he’s already won two Tour de France titles and two Monuments before the age of 24? Try and win just about everything else…

The Slovenian has added the Tour of Flanders to his 2022 calendar, and will ride three other Monuments — Milan San Remo, Liège–Bastogne–Liège and Il Lombardia — on top of defending the Tour de France and returning to the Vuelta a España.

“The start will be similar to this year, I will open the season with the UAE Tour, which is very important for the team,” Pogačar told Slovenian media. “I will almost certainly compete in four Monuments – all but Paris-Roubaix – two Grand Tours, and probably also the World Championships, where the route will not be so flat and it will be difficult to control. The season will be quite strenuous, and the Tour of Slovenia is also planned.”

Can Pogačar win Flanders? His win at Liège showed he packs a sprint at the end of a demanding day…and it’s hard to see him getting dropped on the climbs…anyone feel strongly either way?

"I don't want to be on it anymore because I don't want to be anywhere near these men": Pro-active travel councillor leaves Twitter over abuse

1. Hi everyone. The wonderful woman who is Jo Rigby is leaving Twitter for a bit. She sent me a note which she asked me to share with you. I’ve spoken to her on the phone and she’s doing okay-ish. Cllr Jo Rigby is a live blog regular with her thoughts, pics and videos of active travel infra (or more often the lack of it) from Wandsworth, south London. As recently as last Tuesday she headlined the live blog after sharing a clip of six drivers cutting across a painted bike lane in just 25 seconds. The video sparked a discussion about whether paint is infrastructure and if the lanes really are better than nothing.

However, this morning, a friend has shared a statement saying the councillor is leaving Twitter due to abuse and threats.

The full statement is above but includes, “I was reading posts from a group of men in Enfield who […] had gathered to discuss how I needed a smack to shut me up along with indulging themselves in a fantasy where I get crushed to death by a tipper truck.

“There are some wonderful people on here […] but it’s essentially riddled with hate and anger. And I don’t want to be on it anymore because I don’t want to be anywhere near these men.”

Rigby said she’s also had a threatening email sent to her place of work, including calling on her employer to take action against her. Something “which didn’t get the response he wanted. I got a lovely supportive note from my new boss.”

EF Education - Nippo announce major transfer coup with deal for breakthrough climbing sensation Mark Padun

“This is the right team for me. When I had the opportunity to join EF, I was quite happy and didn’t have to think about it too long.”

Welcome to the team, Mark Padun! 🎉 We see great success for this rider in 2022. More on the Ukrainian climber here: https://t.co/93qxbhzb3V pic.twitter.com/Xx0ETtDRJd

— EF Pro Cycling (@EFprocycling) December 15, 2021

It’s safe to say Ukranian pro Mark Padun shocked the world at the Critérium du Dauphiné, winning consecutive stages in the mountains against some of the best riders in the world. An extraordinary achievement made more impressive by the fact that before the race Padun’s biggest win was a stage of the Tour of the Alps back in 2018.

Retrospective analysis ranked Padun’s watts per kilo climbing performance up there with the best rides of the season. And while the rest of 2021 didn’t work out for the Bahrain Victorious rider, where he would be riding in 2022 was one of the big off-season transfer questions.

Ineos were unsurprisingly mentioned, and at one point were assumed to be the destination by many. But refreshingly it’s EF Education — who have secured his signature.

Jonathan Vaughters talked up his new big-name signing: “I fully expect him to win his first stage of a Grand Tour in the next couple of years. I have no doubt that he’ll do that. I know he can find the right breakaway in a mountain stage and climb away from everyone else and win stages. I know he can do that in Grand Tours.

“Whether he can expand on that to win mountain jerseys or contend in general classification, that part we have to find out. But for this year, let’s focus on a couple of stage wins. I’m 100% confident he can do it.”

Yes, in rare circumstances that would be the case.

            — AlsoSomniloquism

This is a mischaracterisation of Nick Freeman’s job. I’ve already explained the ethical justification for what he does in my previous post. He clearly is a road safety expert, as he regularly does TV and radio interviews, as well as newspaper columns on the subject, which might involve tightening up existing laws, introducing new ones, or improving safety for vulnerable people.

Do you think being banned for racism, then coming back on under a different psuedonym that they then regulalry change including using it to blame a cyclist who died in a collision because of the bike they rode is just a different opinion?

            — AlsoSomniloquism

This simply isn’t true. As I already said, there was a previous poster that asked for his account and posts to be deleted, and the Road.cc team carried out the request. I temporarily changed my handle to “tt danger” as there was a php error in logging in, and I stand by my entirely justifiable position that riding TT bikes is dangerous.

Ok Boo, I will go against my

Ok Boo, I will go against my normal stated policy but you have asked me to get the details straight from the arses mouth.

So where you claim you are not Boo even though all what he used to state and all you state tallies up and that person is different.
You claim banned boo did not get banned but deliberately asked for all of his postings and his account to be removed “cause reasons”, so how did he contact you to tell you this? I mean afterall, when I previously confronted you over this you had never heard of this person before. Surely if I’m so mistaken he would have contacted me to put the record straight rather then contact another total stranger. I mean it did seem weird that the morning after he posted racist comments about Irish people all his posts and his account disappeared. I wonder why after posting that he thought “no, I better just ask to leave” Was it because people were rightly calling it racist I wonder? So again, the main question I would like answering is how did someone you have never heard of who left this site before you ever arrived, manage to contact you to put the record straight instead of contacting the person who is spreading the news he was banned.

I will pre-empt you in that I smell your favourite smell, Bullshit. It must be your favourite as you seem to worship it in all your role models.

Oh and to pick up the other obvious lie about username issues. PHP errors stopped you logging on, but you could still change your username to logon past the errors without managing to logon. Maybe the errors happened because you had already changed your username to “YouareallCyberbullies” when you had a hissy fit and vowed (but of course broke that vow straight away) to leave the site and never post again. Also very starnge that the only username to work for you was TTDanger which you used to post some vile comments about the death of a young lady that even more laid back members of this site reported you over and were removed by admin. Just a shame that you then didn’t “ask for your account to be removed” just like boo to save the rest of us from putting up with you.

And before the more right wing members argue that my last coments are about silencing opinions and not being democratic. Can I just remind you that #boycottGBNews was trending when a presenter decided to do an AntiRacism gesture after twitter bile went through the roof in the summer and he was subsequently forced to resign. So both sides of the spectrum will hate differing opinions that the “majority” of the platform users might not have.

Sigh, this isn’t what happened. I’ve just been in conversation with the previous user, who I’m acquainted with – he told me that Bradley Wiggins had told a joke about Sean Kelly’s Irish accent on Eurosport, and he made a tribute to the joke, by jesting about the Scottish accent here and not being able to tell what was being said. This had nothing to do with him asking to have his account removed.

Oh and to pick up the other obvious lie about username issues. PHP errors stopped you logging on, but you could still change your username to logon past the errors without managing to logon.

            — AlsoSomniloquism

That’s correct, yes. I was trapped on the user page, and every time I tried to get out of it the site kicked an error. The only way I could seem to resolve it was by changing my user name. Many other people had a similar issue around that time – there was a long thread about it.

Also very starnge that the only username to work for you was TTDanger which you used to post some vile comments about the death of a young lady that even more laid back members of this site reported you over and were removed by admin.

            — AlsoSomniloquism

Again, this never happened. There was an article that appeared – after I changed my username – that mentioned someone had got injured in a TT competition. I pointed out that there had been a number a recent casualties in TT events, and that people should look at whether it’s suitable to run them on open roads. Another user then complained about the post and it was removed (I believe without due reason, but it’s not my decision to make). Again, no one was banned and no rules were broken.

Funny how you were the only

Funny how you were the only one who had to change their name and then decided to change it to ‘you are all cyberbullies’ then one or two days later to ‘tt danger’. Instead of the normal nigel garrage1. More lies.

And you did post as TT danger on the woman who was badly injured and trolled about the incident. Of course, you could have changed your username back but you prefer to suck people into responding, leaving them thinking it is a different poster.

Your whole approach is baiting and any other forum would have banned you months ago.

Boris and Donnie would be so proud.

Ok, lets break down this then. First you knew Boo IRL, but even though you both have similar interests in riding only by yourself, supporting far right and bumbling leaders, hating cycling clubs, hating TT bikes, victim blaming cyclists and having a hard on against Cycling Mikey, you only decided to join a site your “mate” left 8 or so months previously. Yep ok. SoIF I would now believe you, it would obviously meant you lied when I confronted you previously about this and you stated you don’t know anything about the fella. Of course so strange you know the exact thing that was posted and was then gone the very next day.

Yes, there was a long thread about issues on the site, not one thing about being trapped in user page and I don’t remember anyone else having to change their username at all. You must be so unlucky that you needed to change it several times and not one other person did but also very lucky that your name change occurred before the news of the collisions. I mean even though it must have been seconds before as I distinctly remember the name was You Are All CyberBullies that morning and then it was TT Danger that afternoon with me commenting about the name change having to do with that story and Hirsute stating he had made the complaint about your crass comments.

So anyway, as you are now clearly a fantasist on a windup making offensive comments and still peddling conspiracies when you want to, I will go back to talking about you and not talking to you Boo.

I still don’t get why no one

I still don’t get why no one who ever lets Poophole spout his bile in the context of road safety never asks the questions.

“If you are so adamant on road safety, why have you supposedly made millions defending drivers who do actually speed and drive dangerously, but get away with it because you argue on  technicalities rather then they didn’t actually do the offence?”

“How many times have you had to defend the same offender for the same driving offences being committed again and again and don’t you feel that you publicising it all means drivers feel that they can get away with these more and more?”

Those should always be the first questions asked for balance before they allow him to justify his other claims.

          TV interviews have a limited

TV interviews have a limited time, and these questions have already been posed to and graciously answered by Mr Freeman:

“If you are so adamant on road safety, why have you supposedly made millions defending drivers who do actually speed and drive dangerously, but get away with it because you argue on  technicalities rather then they didn’t actually do the offence?”

Well, first of all there’s no “supposedly” about it. Mr Freeman has made millions rightfully defending drivers. Secondly, as anyone who respects the rule of law knows, everyone has the right to a fair trial, and that involves access to the best defence team you can find.

You cannot blame a top lawyer for finding holes in badly written laws. You should instead be lobbying your MP to tighten up the law itself. Mr Freeman’s work is entirely ethically justifiable, and indeed is necessary in a free society. Indeed, Mr Freeman himself regularly campaigns to rewrite badly-written laws and statutes.

“How many times have you had to defend the same offender for the same driving offences being committed again and again and don’t you feel that you publicising it all means drivers feel that they can get away with these more and more?”

Firstly, there are no rules, nor should there be, for a lawyer to represent a client more than once.

Secondly, Mr Freeman isn’t a newspaper or a journalistic output. The fact is that he – as a top lawyer – represents celebrity clients, and that in itself generates its own publicity.

It’s such a shame that Jo Rigby, an exemplary hard-working public servant dedicated to cycling and active travel, has been hounded off social media by the foul abuse she’s received, having already decided that she wouldn’t stand for re-election as a local councillor partly for the same reason. I’ve seen a fair bit of the abuse she’s received, nearly all from men from “One” anti-LTN groups and it’s been astoundingly vile.

Has the abuse been reported to twitter, fb and any other platforms it appears on?  These people should be named and shamed and banned from the media.

If you do want a laugh and literally see how rabid anti cyclist she is, MortonPeas is her twitter handle. She was in the debate on a video of a Richmond park stating parks are their to be driven in and not to be cycled in. When someone stated we want to remove the cars from the park she piped up, so you want to make them inaccessible to everyone but cyclists and walkers. I think she actually lives in her car and just teleports from it to anywhere else.

Eventually, I hope we can find a cunning ruse to trick everyone into having computer chips implanted, an idea that I’ve secretly code named “jabs in arms”.

Rest assured that you will unlikely be prosecuted on your rampage, and even if dragged before a court, with multiple murders in your vehicle, you will unlikely lose your licence or be inconvenienced from any sentencing. Such is the UK’s car-centric motorist-appeasing legal system.

Coincidentally Katie Price has been banned from driving for about the seventh time, for driving while banned, without insurance, on drugs, drunk, on the way to buy more drugs – Result: Another pointless ban, no prison time at all.

I think most people treat the prospect of being caught with fear, abhorrence, disgust, shame and variations of those feelings.

        Most people.

For some, it just seems like an occupational hazard, with a reasonable chance of absolution in court with (the right ‘highly regarded road safety expert’ as your brief*) – at most a slap on the wrist and a short walk to the Head’s office, giving off cheeky smiles and winks to yer mates as you go.

Then it’s back to your high profile meeja work (what is it you do, Katie?) to explain how she suffers ever-so from all the something or other.

Sadly, the things KP talks about are real issues, and may be real in her case. But if those become any part of the excuse for her behaviour behind the wheel of a 2-tonne vehicle, then enforcement should be effective and meaningful for somebody who can pay for a driver during the ban, and whose 100 hours of communuty service will simply inspire series 2 of Misfits.

Meanwhile, apparently, as her friend tells the Sun,

“She is happily planning Christmas. All of her plans for next year are intact. Some of those close to her are worried she is in denial about the situation she is in. When she is asked, her response is that she has been to The Priory, and they will let her off because her family [disabled son & terminally ill mother] need her. But the crimes she has admitted are serious and some are concerned she is burying her head in the sand.”

Then, Her Jordanship posts on Instagram to say, “It seems that at the moment the media won’t leave me alone and are trying to portray that I’m not taking this situation serious. Well I’m here to confirm that I definitely am.” [ibid]

I’ll just reiterate that, Katie Price takes to Instagram to tell her 2.6m followers, that the media won’t leave her alone… “I am takin’ it seriouslike, coz Instagram, innit!”

(* a different one from the usual name that keeps popping up.  Even KP’s defence didn’t seem to be her best friend in court: “It’s a complicated driving history. Things tend to be quite complicated with this lady. She does not deal with her problems, particularly with paperwork.”

I’m at a loss to understand how taking drink and drugs before driving and rolling a car is ‘paperwork’, and I applaud the police for considering appealing the sentence.)

          And the court effectively

And the court effectively said “Roll another one, just like the other one, you’re not holding on to it (your licence), just don’t drive for a bit. Don’t bogart that jeep, my friend …”

Far as I’m aware she can afford a cab / chauffeur so it is pretty outrageous she’s dodged the clink – but not surprised rich folks do better in court. (Also please police are taking that sentence on). I’m more interested in what would effectively keep her (and lots more like her) off the roads for longer. So it’s how to better enforce that on a budget? Prison would – but only for a short time.

Possibly why there’s no national forum for reporting road offenses – probably everyone knows that the system would be swamped in no time.

She was declared bankrupt in November 2019 so she may not be as rich as you think.

I suspect her reckless behaviour and inability to take responsibility is not just a driving thing.

For clarity, I believe her sentence is far too lenient too.

It may also be why she wasn’t represented by Nigel’s favourite lawyer this time around.

what was the car that she flipped over leading to this case? hard to tell from the images of the underside, but I would not be surprised if it was an X5, hardly a cheap car. And this despite th fact she has crahed other cars since her bankruptcy.

When she was declared bankrupt the court heard she had average earnings of £45,000 per month & her mansion was worth at least £2million. As it happens it’s more likely now she will face jail time for not keeping to the bankruptcy agreement to repay her creditors as part of the CVA.

Didn’t know that – but still can afford to run a car (and indeed upend it) and lawyers (presumably – although maybe she’s bilking them?) and obtain Bolivian marching powder. Although I hear that does at least provide its own motivation for getting more…

I think for many people going bankrupt is “bad times” but there are rumours that some folks are seen not doing badly afterwards.  Guess it depends on the conditions and who checks up on them.

Have a look at this story on

Have a look at this story on the BBC, and note that ‘every’ motorist on this video was fined £846 or disqualified.

Pity that if these were filmed on a bike camera the police would bleat ‘insufficient evidence, not in the public interest, too busy, blah blah blah’. Especially the crazy overtake at the beginning. If this was a NMOTD, there would be no further action, or insufficient evidence.

Yep, I added the same link on

Yep, I added the same link on late yesterdays blog as well. It is about time the Police actually has national guidelines on submissions and following through with them rather then it being piecemeal for each force.

I envy people who get feedback on NIP status etc and stare in horror at WTJS’s local force deciding that red light jumping at the one set of lights is fine. Surrey Twitter account do good public knowledge share but are let down with actually actioning.

And that latest video with Herts, Beds and Bucks Police starting please submit because look how bad this driving is and it is all offences and then NMOTD 671 having a response that the driving with the trailer was not an offence in any way even though cyclist had to take evading action to avoid dying.

        Yes, Lancashire are my local

Yes, Lancashire are my local force too. And they are completely useless. Lazy, no interest at all in doing anything to make our roads safer. I have given up reporting dangerous drivers to them. Supplied with HD footage with sound, they still decide that it’s not in the public interest, too busy, not enough evidence, blah blah blah.

I have zero respect for the police now, and would not lift a finger to help them. And I used to be a police volunteer, and gave a lot of my spare time to them, usually Friday evenings and weekends. Never again.

Yes, the red light jumping is dreadful. I know that junction well, the A6 at Garstang. It is a fast road and the approach to the lights from one side is on a downhill from a canal bridge. I use the A6 regularly to get from one place to another but try to avoid it where possible, using the small lanes instead.

Have you noticed that a lot

Have you noticed that a lot of the traffic lights around the Preston area seem to be biased towards causing collisions?

What I mean is, for example, the roundabout at Bamber Bridge, between Sainsburys and St Catherines Hospice. Which I avoid like the plague on the bike btw, but if you sit in the car at any point, as the lights to your right turn red, the ones for you turn amber, green immediately. There is no break between the lights, the amber lights up as the opposing red lights up. So, if someone is going to drive through on red, they may well collide with you as you are already moving across the roundabout.

This is not unique to this junction, I see it at many traffic lights in the area. Almost as if they want the accident rate to increase so they can add yet more lights.

I envy people who get feedback on NIP status etc and stare in horror at WTJS’s local force deciding that red light jumping at the one set of lights is fine

I feelI should reward this mention with the evidence of one of my rarely mentioned cases- black Astra PK66 JYP speeding through a red light. I think this one (I have the evidence, I just can’t be bothered to look it up) was treated to a formal statement and was then binned. This was a regular dodge of Lancashire Constabulary late last year- they now refuse to communicate at all about the outcomes. I write to the SRU Court Presentation Officers (employees of LC, usually Roseanna Nuttall- laugh all you want: SRU stands for Safer Roads Unit) and she refuses to tell me anything about the case and suggests I ask the relevant police officer- usually PC 1583 Bryan Harrison, who styles himself as Tac Ops Dash Camera. I had, of course, already asked PC Bryan Harrison who refused to reply. I ask him again, and he still doesn’t reply. The reason is, of course, that there is no outcome to the case because it was just a sham statement and a sham prosecution which was never intended to take place and they have just decided to keep quiet about it for fear of incriminating themselves further. I have all the statements as .pdf files. It is difficult to describe to people in other areas what it’s like dealing with a police force as bent as Lancashire.

Since New Year they have abandoned this ‘statements dodge’- they just refuse to respond in any way to evidence of red-light offences. You may well ask why they are putting more effort into not prosecuting people than they would have to put into dead certainty convictions. The reason is that officers are accepting payments to abandon prosecutions- it’s the only explanation

hey if that first one were

hey if that first one were ignored just because it was a bike cam, I think Id quit cycling on UK roads completely, how the heck they missed crashing into the car there I do not know, I hope thats the one that was disqualified. The rest Im not sure were much more than atypical stuff you see on the roads daily, though why people feel they need to use hard shoulders to speed, when there were  completely empty lanes they could have sped on, is perplexing.

but maybe an FOI request to Cambridge,Bucks & Herts on how many NIPs from cyclist videos might be in order for an article.

I agree, but my point was that if all the footage was supplied by cyclists there would be no further action taken.

and my point was if that

and my point was if that first one were given that specific NFA treatment just because it was supplied by a cyclist, I would not cycle on UK roads anymore, because I would not consider it safe to ride as we would not have any fit for purpose legal recourse or protection.

maybe Im naive, but I do not agree that first incident would be treated anything other than deadly seriously by the police, whoever submitted it. the others I dont know, its going to be down to the force involved.

            Try reporting that first one,

Try reporting that first one, and supplying the video footage to Lancashire police. You will see what I mean.

Winning GC is irrelevant, what a relief. The best thing about knowing Pogacar will most likely win GC, is that it frees us to focus on all the more interesting aspects the mountainous chess game that is the TDF. The real challenge for all (riders, teams and spectators) will be the hot weather. This might be the last TDF to be ridden in the heat of the afternoon. There will also likely be major climate protests against the rampant sports washing by fossil fuel corporate sponsors that defiantly continue as the core funding strategy of pro cycling, despite all evidence that their products are endangering the health of the greatest grandstand in all sport. Corporate surveillance and AI will not be far behind for protestors in coming years (if not this year), as a world on fire impacted by corporate greed and wilful ignorance towards the human rights of all earths citizens begins to bite; all whist cycling through some of the planets most glorious and endangered lands. The irony is palpable and the suspension of public disbelief seems about to crack. The onus is on the UCI to shift policy. Protests and epic TDF crowds could yet be the deciding factor in 2026.

A fine career from a great rider, backed by an exceptional team. I hope that we haven't lost him completely from the world of cycling. There were a few solo breakaways, when and where I cannot recall, but they were just great and for me unexpected.

The LBS had a few copies of this when I had to pop in a few weeks back, needed a new rim, grrr. It piqued my interest, I like exploring the Chilterns and beyond and I love cake. Almost purchased. But noticed that the ride description wasn't up to what I liked, and the maps are all navigation app based, not really suited to a luddite such as myself. So I'm going to have to stick to my 1p very tatty copy of Nick Cotton's 24 one-day routes in Berks, Bucks & Oxfordshire. Much less cake based mind, but suited to the way I ride, that and a few local OS explorers.

The writer's name is Ty (handy synchronicity for Ti ) Rutherford, hence Rf. I'd have to have a bike made of an alloy of silicon and tungsten, which does exist, but it's apparently used in computer chips rather than bike frames. Hey ho.

Very interesting, thank you for sharing! Hope you enjoy the bike! Have to ask though, I get the Ti as it’s a titanium frame. But why Rf, a notoriously unstable synthetic and highly radioactive element?
