France’s Look has redesigned its Geo City Vision urban pedals with integrated LEDs to offer greater visibility while slashing the price to £75 a pair, which is a 40% reduction on the previous model.
Best known as the company that brought the road cycling world clipless pedals back in the Eighties, Look introduced its Geo City Vision urban pedals back in 2020 and has now given them a complete redesign.

Quoting a study by Darlene Edewaard (Clemson University), Look says that moving lights at pedal level can make you up to 5.5 times more visible than a fixed light on a seatpost for increased safety.
It also says that the Geo City Vision pedals now provide 360° visibility, and that’s crucial given that 60% of cycling accidents happen at intersections (that’s a figure from France, 2023; estimates vary between sources, but it’s always high).
Previously, the Look Geo City Grip Vision pedals had an LED on the front and rear edges of the platform (so four in total across the pair), which extended slightly around the ends, but they didn’t offer nearly as much visibility from the side.

On the new version, the light module – the section that lights up – is a single unit per pedal that covers the end section and extends around both sides of the body. It pushes in place on the pedal body and is held there magnetically. It can be removed in seconds for recharging.
Look says that the integrated 40-lumen lights are visible from up to 900m – well over half a mile to those of us who work in imperial units – although that will clearly depend on where you’re riding, conditions, and so on.

You can choose from four lighting modes and get up to 15 hours of charge in steady mode, and up to 60 hours in one of the flashing modes. If your ride to and from work takes 45 minutes in each direction, five days a week, you could use steady mode throughout and only need to recharge once a fortnight. An integrated battery indicator helps you stay on top of things, and a full charge takes three hours via USB-C.
Although you can turn the Geo City Vision pedals on and off manually, they automatically enter standby mode after 30 seconds of inactivity, and then come to life again when they detect movement, like the Look Keo Blade Ceramic Vision pedals that we reviewed recently.

They have an IPX7 waterproof rating, which means they can survive immersion in a metre of water for 30 minutes without ill effects. In the real world, that means they should stand up to rain and spray without any worries.
As you can see, the Geo City Vision urban pedals are flat platforms; there’s no clipless system here, although you can check out the Look Keo Blade Ceramic Vision pedals we reviewed recently if that’s what you’re after.

The flat composite body features a flat 100x103mm contact surface that’s designed to provide grip for everyday shoes.

“The Geo City Vision pedals combine multi-directional diamond-tip grip with varied texture heights,” says Look. “The result: an enhanced feeling of adhesion, a secure hold with all types of shoes, even in the rain, and more comfort on long rides.”
The axle is chromoly.
As mentioned up top, Look has dropped the price of its Geo City Vision pedals massively. They were previously £125 at full RRP, and now they’re down to £75. They’re also a lot cheaper than the £154.99 Redshift Arclight City Pedals, for example.

That’s interesting because when reviewing the previous Look Geo City Grip Vision pedals for us, Emma Silversides said that they offered “unquestionable comfort and grip in all conditions, but whether the increased visibility is worth the extra is debatable”.

“I really can’t knock the pedals for comfort, grip and performance in all conditions,” she said. “The lights work well and certainly increase your visibility, though the port covers and buttons could be improved. Given those flaws and the fact that you can simply mount extra lights in more practical places for less than the difference in price between these and the Geo City Grips, it’s hard to justify the price, but if you have the cash, they certainly work.”
Assuming the other features of the new pedals are as effective as those of the previous model, maybe that price reduction will be enough to win the Geo City Vision pedals new fans. We have a pair here at road.cc so standby for a review.

The Look website has these pedals for sale at 79 Euros – but appears only to deliver within France. No retailers seem to sell these pedals at £75 within the UK – unless someone can prove otherwise to me !
UK distribution is handled by Chicken.
The product is here: https://www.chickencyclekit.co.uk/shop/search/geo-city-vision-hybrid-pedals/ with “stock coming soon”.
Chicken reckons that’ll happen within a couple of weeks. I’ll update you with an exact date if I’m able to get one.
What colour are the lights and how does it work for legality in England and Wales? If they are orange I presume they will be fine, if they are red then could it cause issues?
@DS2025 Definitely looks orange to me.
And by the way, great idea – and seems well executed, too!
