Ta, I have been looking for a replacement for my Respro reflective waistcoat. Yellow top and orange bottom, scotchlite (naturally) and with black mesh front pockets. So old and worn. Thought I’d got a new one, but it seems to be a much later design, very plastic rather than polyester (?) fabric of the original. Needs to be very breathable even in the deep winter. Little ProViz tabards for the summer. I require the pockets for my scull cap/head band options.
It’s a shame that Respro have stopped doing their reflective range. I could do with some fresh ankle bands.

The library had a book about the war of 1812, which I knew very little about, so naturally I had to give it a go. Interesting little war, nasty enough. Sort of started with issues over the Caribbean, and allegations of press ganging of US sailors. The young US attempted to invade Canada, but essentially no roads, and failed. Odd little naval engagements on the great lakes. The US sort of started burning the cities but the Empire were just better at it.
I do like military history. I lacked knowledge of the russian Japanese war of 1906(?) Issues concerning the trans-siberian. The Russians spent ages sailing their balic fleet to the pacific, with difficulties coaling as the British empire controlled most of them, the Japanese buying British ships, we had treaties. I think they had to go around Africa. The baltic fleet was destroyed in moments.
Russian civil war is my read for lunch at work currently. Now civil wars are particularly nasty, but the level of barbarism, from both sides, is shocking. Nothing new, extensions of tsarist methods…

Luckily said building was full of hi viz barriers and road signs. Unfortunately building was too dangerous to allow safe access.

Argos did a fine repair to my surly ogre, off side chain stay at the dropout. Third frame to go there, first two replaced under warranty. They added a strengthening tube connecting chain and seat stay. Under £200. Lewis at AWs wanted me to see the work before getting it a bit of paint, not Argos. Their work was stunning, unfortunately a clear coat wouldn’t have lasted. Not a great finish but far better than I could’ve done. Cannot be precious about paint.
There is always the option, after the fix, to give painting her a go. If it’s awful, then get a professional job.
