A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

Not much point posting a link to an article behind a pay/ad wall.

Abandon shipment: how an Amazon van got marooned on the UK’s ‘most dangerous path’

    Amazon Van stuck in mud

“Apparently the Amazon driver was a lady who’d been in the job three days,” says Jason. “She, I believe, got to the top of the sea wall and phoned her supervisor and said: ‘Am I doing the right thing here? I’m questioning this.’ And they said: ‘Does the satnav tell you to go that way?’ She said: ‘Yes.’ So they said: ‘Well, carry on.’”

I mean, who hasn’t assaulted someone because they were ‘very frustrated’ with a parking machine? And after all, he ‘didn’t mean to’ do it, and he ‘very much regrets it’ – possibly even as much as the previous two (at least) occasions.

Obviously nothing wrong with someone with these kinds of anger issues being behind the wheel of a car…

You can’t have historic buildings because we need people to drive past our shops.

Old lady “can’t cope” with the paperwork required to insure her car, but apparently the solution is for her family to help with the paperwork, rather than suggest maybe she shouldn’t be driving anymore.

The judge said because he was employing people as a roofer they didn’t send him to jail.

Personally, I think those people might be better off not being on a roof with him and his anger issues.

‘I was punched in the face for driving at 20mph’

Tl;dr: van driver assaults pensioner because the pensioner was driving at the speed limit, and the van driver wanted to go faster. Luckily the incident was caught on camera and justice was swiftly done – the van driver had to pay a small fine.

mdavidford / RE: North Berwick Parking charges

Yup, it’s that whole thing where a little of the power of the elite (effortless transport on a whim) was brought within (just) the means of the many. And now that we have mass motoring any efforts to manage the genie (no chance of returning it to the bottle) are an” attack on liberties” (even at a quid for 75 minutes’ parking…)

Anyway, the vandalism is another thing taxpaying non-drivers now subsiding for drivers…
