I have thought about this,
I have thought about this, never had to actually do it, was allowed my full sized bike on, but it would have to be a Bromton. Nothing seems to compare. Dahons are meant to be alright, but Bromptons not only fold well, but seem tougher and better built. Upgradable too, mmm, titanium. And British.

A lot of control on the
A lot of control on the technical stuff on moutain bikes comes from the 3 + 9 position. At least in the video I saw recently. I have been trying it too, seems to work. Don’t know about stopping mind.

Because you trackstand with
Because you trackstand with the pedals in that position.

For the tight rims,
For the tight rims,
I have tried, in the past, slightly diluted washing up liquid, which helped but was still very difficult, conti grand prix on 26′ mavic mountain bike rims, so tight that they rarely seated even when at the pressures I could manage, which caused vibration, resulting in temporary loss of feeling in my little fingers. How we learn. Awful footpump and mini pump.
Any way these days I tend to talc the tubes and the inner tyre, some gets on the bead and it slides over the rim. The other end of my Pedros Milk Lever tends to help that last little bit, if needed. Doing one thing that helps, helps another. Wouldn’t work for tubeless, mind.
I like the warming idea, Always better doing work in the warm, and softening stuff as well.

For those longer more out of
For those longer more out of the way rides has to be 2 spare tubes, never needed them but you never know. My topeak master blaster MX has lasted me over 15 years, but as I’m running different pressures on and off road I take my Lezyne mini floor HV for me, which I see on CRC has a speed chuck thingy, even without the speed chuck the normal flip screw chuck has an air bleed which makes removal easier and is meant to prevent unintended core removal. The HP is well cheap on CRC at the mo. I cannot travel light.

I get the tuneworm going
I get the tuneworm going around my head, often from the last TV advert I have seen/heard. Latest Sony is an alright one at the moment. The first round of Go Compare was soul destroying.
When riding through groups of waterfowl along the Thames, it’s “Hey Ducks”, “Hey Swans”, or “Hey Geese”. Going through a field on the ridgeway, “Hey Cow”. My favorite, but rare is “BADGER!”

Seems a little more neutral
Seems a little more neutral than a lot of reporting, just the facts, what is currently known. They didn’t use that horrible word “accident”.
Another unfortunate and pointless death, because people wanted to get somewhere. I feel for the family.

In my experience, and this
In my experience, and this was back when lagal aid was available (’92), personnel injury claims complicate matters and replacing parts would be quicker.
I wouldn’t be saying I cycled into the car, myself.

ClubSmed, I hate to assume
ClubSmed, I hate to assume what others may think, but it might be a small amount of prejudice against it being a/an Halfords brand.

ClubSmed, do what the hell
ClubSmed, do what the hell you want, upgrading is fun, and adds to mechanical experience.
Myself, I wouldn’t do everything at the bikeshop, some things yes, headset, pressfit BB. If you are looking at it long term, and it would seem that you are, invest in some good quality tools and do things slowly and with care in front of the telly. LBS knowledge is great, but with internet, and not being rushed, it could be a more satisfying experience. I’m never going to fit my own headset again, did it fine, but scary, and after turning a round wheel into an egg, I shall always get them to true and build my wheels.

For me, if you are thinking
For me, if you are thinking for the long term and the future then it’s the frame as an investment, components wear out and then you can upgrade. Can’t tell you much about the bikes you are thinking about, but have you thought about 2nd hand. Little more pot luck, and you have to have a little more knowledge (or just get lucky). Admittedly it will not be as shiny and you won’t get the grace period of everything being perfect for a while, but you could get the steel frame that you might fall in love with and last you many years.
I must also say that I like my square taper BB, have also used octalink and hollowtech (MTB), the hollowtech seems to creak more (XTR as well), but I’ve never had a complaint of my UN72s, picked up my last one NOS on ebay. Middleburn RS7 (we shall really miss you) and when the BB dies I am going the whole hog and opting for Phil Wood.
