1. Court told road rage cyclist tried to rip door off Merc (he failed, but did rip off a wing mirror) after being beeped by driver

A former Olympic athlete and Royal Marine turned celebrity fitness coach has been ordered to pay £3,700 in compensation after he tried to rip off the door of a Mercedes in a road rage incident while he was out for a bike ride.

2. Police find 101 stolen bikes in house in Oldham

Police officers investigating the theft of a bike from a railway station in West Yorkshire followed a trail that led to them discovering 101 other stolen bicycles stored in a single house in Oldham, Greater Manchester.

3. Vitus launch two new bikes, the Zenium Carbon and the Substance Carbon

4. Car passenger filmed pushing woman off bike

Frome our Thursday live blog, the shocking clip shows a man lean out of a car window and push a woman into a hedge. We're unsure if the woman was ok following the incident, although in the comments someone claims the police have been informed. The offender's face is reasonably clear.

5. E-bikes give a brain boost to older cyclists, according to new study

Via eBikeTips, it's been suggested that older cyclists who use electric bicycles may be getting the same brain benefits as those on standard bikes, according to new research conducted at the University of Reading and Oxford Brookes.

7. Contraflow cycle lane in Plymouth rendered useless by drivers parking in it

A cyclist says that a contraflow cycle lane in Plymouth has been rendered useless by motorists parking in it. The popular route, which allows cyclists to ride against the flow of motor traffic on an otherwise one-way street, links the Plym Woods to other parts of Plymouth and Plympton.

8. New UCI approved bikes from Cervelo, Orbea and Liv

Checking out the UCI's updated List of Approved Models of Frames and Forks reveals that new bikes are on the way from Cervelo, Orbea and Liv. Cervelo has had a new cyclocross bike called the FM137 approved. That's an interesting development in that it's the first cyclocross model that Cervelo has ever had added to the list...
