Deloitte RAB 2012? Ignorance was bliss....

Wait, hang on, so having not been on a bicycle since I was approximately 16 years old, not to mention the fact that I don't even have a bike, I have voluntarily signed myself up to ride the length of Britain?  It will be 100 miles a day for 9 days on a sa

How did this happen?

Well, you know how it is?  You're looking for your next (possibly-mid-life-crisis-related) adventure/challenge, you bump into Mack in the pub and he suggests you hop on a charity cycle ride to raise money for the Paralympians.  Being a fan of the 'why not?' camp rather than the 'why', how could I say no to such a fantastic idea?  So, here I am signed up for Deloitte RAB 2012, Lands End to John O'Groats mammoth bike ride, yay!

Wait, hang on, so having not been on a bicycle since I was approximately 16 years old, not to mention the fact that I don't even have a bike, I have voluntarily signed myself up to ride the length of Britain?  It will be 100 miles a day for 9 days on a saddle marginally larger than a trivial pursuit wedge and almost as comfortable to sit on...yup ignorance was indeed bliss....

Truthfully, I am looking forward to it somehow, the training will be hard I am sure and going from novice to 900 miles will no doubt be at least a 'double grippy' learning curve.  I also worry about finding the time between work and my two young sons and whether being part of such a male dominated sport will present any problems?  However, I'm a firm believer that there is very little you can't do when you put your mind to it, so bring it on!  'More is in you' isn't that the RAB mantra?  Fingers crossed then....

Oh and did I mention that I'm a personal stylist? As in I advise people what to wear?  You can probably see where I am going with this.....all that Lycra in colours that just aren't in my palette dahling?  Well, I'm sure we'll be touching on that again very soon......
