Just a quick note to let road.cc know we left the EU several years ago and aren't bound by their rules and regulations any more. There is no UK or EU version of AliExpress and one of the many reasons for this is that the EU systematically stifles innovation by hamstringing companies with red tape. It's up to the UK to break free and innovate again, as we've done in the past. My concern is that we've become a risk-averse, rule-taking society that's afraid to embrace the freedom we now have.

@GravelIsNothingNew I'm assuming that they must have gone from one to the next, arriving at 2am for Jonas, I'm guessing they probably didn't conduct the test for at least 30+ minutes while they put everything in place to make sure the sample is secure etc, plus the time at the end logging and securing it. then Travel from the Hotel Jumbo are staying in to UAE's hotel (presuming they're not in the same one) locating Tadej's room, setting up etc again. If they wanted to do it properly they should probably have multiple testing teams arriving at the same times, and test the top 5 or so on GC

Are the UCI going to release the evidence that they had prompting the "serious and specific" suspicions? By getting court approval to test at the times they did, they must believe that it's highly likely both of the riders are doing something illegal, it would be interesting to know where that comes from, rather than the "they're by far the two best riders at the tour, they must be doing something suspicious"

It's not entirely clear, but I don't think they're referring to how close they were to the parked car; it's more how close they were to the oncoming vehicle, which appeared (albeit very slightly) to slow and move towards the side of the road in order to pass safely.

I downloaded the app onto my iPhone 12 a week or so ago and have had no success getting it to show me my power. It happily gives me all the info I can already get on my Garmin Edge 830 already. I just wanted to see if I could get a power reading without the expense of buying a power meter. I also don't seem to have any success linking the app to my Garmin. There is an option to send a message to support via a Contact Us link but so far 3 messages on three different days have elicited no response. Another issue, which could be due to brightness settings on my phone perhaps, is that in bright sunlight I can't read any of the info on the dark screen. Would love to discuss this with the designers but they haven't chosen to answer my messages.

Um, they literally did claim that there was a need to prove it *if it was in the statement*: In any case, they don't need to prove that it was less than 1 m (or 1.5 m, or any other specific distance), since that's not an offence; they need to prove that it was driving below the standard of a careful and competent driver. As I said, *in practice* it often seems that a higher standard of 'beyond all doubt' seems to be being demanded, but that just backs up HM's original point: that's not *supposed* to be the standard, so where it's happening, something should be done to correct it.

My dad had an experience of operation snap driving up the hill in great Malvern, he patiently waited behind two weaving bikes going up the hill, single file but all over the place, when he cleared the part where there were parked cars on the left hand side he deemed it safe to overtake and the rear cyclist decided he wanted to ride two abreast forcing my dad virtually off the road. The cyclist and his wife shouting at him when he was overtaking, repeating his reg plate. Sure enough West Mercia police sent a letter of intended prosecution as the footage from his go pro showed him passing close. I intervened and asked for the footage they had to be Forensically investigated for digital manipulation and told them my dad had the dash cam footage of the incident. I told them I wouldn't provide the dash cam footage as I was relying on that for a civil claim against the malicious allegations by the cyclists. Needless to say they didn't give me details of the cyclist or pursued the £60 fine. Didn't have any reply at all.... It was an ex copper that told me to ask about having the footage investigated, the cops won't spend ££ on something minor like this as forensic investigation is expensive

Well said. Without better crowd control, there will be a more serious incident. Then, we’ll lose the mountainside crowds altogether.
