@SVXY wow and in what way did the lady wearing sandals contribute to the inability of the so called "highly qualified driving instructor" to avoid mowing her down? Isn't it more a case of him not seeing her simply because he didn't look? Or did he actually mean to knock her off her bike and then try to minimise the consequences of his actions (like many criminals do). You don't know and neither does anyone else apart from the criminal! So could you save your sympathy for the actual victim?

@oizukilemon "elderly users of ebike sewing the data". Well, only older people still know how to sew, I suspect.

@GMBasix What drugs are being run? Are they more dangerous to people's health than tobacco or alcohol? If not, why are the police interfering?

As we know, active travel benefits economies and society in many ways which is often difficult to see in cold hard £ cash figures. Given the health benefits (less cost to the NHS), lower congestion and motorist delays, road maintenance etc can they factor those figures in to their budget? No? Why not?

@Paul J I like that idea. The TT is supposed to be just you against the clock, so standard bikes (e.g. the 'neutral service vehicle' bikes) and standard helmets and clothing would remove some variables and also make it a level playing field
