Van Rysel has released its spring/summer collection, including a new endurance-focused bike. The EDR CF has a carbon fibre frame with integrated storage and sits between the EDR CF Ultra and EDR AF models. There are four models in the range, two of which are currently available in the UK, with prices starting at €1,799 (UK models start at £1,999).

Van Rysel is Decathlon’s performance-focused cycling brand, and it has introduced a new EDR CF endurance bike which is said to bridge the gap between the higher-tier EDR CF Ultra and aluminium EDR AF models , designed “for optimal comfort and versatility”.
It hasn’t been long since Van Rysel released the EDR CF Ultra at the end of last year, which our video guy Liam rode from Lille to London on.

Like the EDR CF Ultra, the new EDR CF features a carbon fibre frame with what Van Rysel calls “endurance-oriented geometry,” along with the same tyre clearance, accommodating up to 38mm tyres. In comparison, the previous generation Van Rysel EDR CF 105 Disc Road only had space for up to 30mm of rubber, though some other endurance bikes offer more. For example, Bianchi’s Infinito that was released last week can fit tyres up to 40mm.

The EDR CF adds integrated frame storage in the down tube where you can keep tools and spares – a feature now seen on many modern endurance bikes.
The new EDR CF looks like an entirely new bike compared to the one we reviewed back in 2021. The brake hoses and cables are now fully integrated, running through the handlebar, and the seatstays now meet the seat tube much higher up the frame, close to the seatpost.
