The new camera shares the looks like the Go Pro Hero5 and Hero6 camera, but has more entry-level video camera intentions for just £200.

Despite being an entry-level model, the Hero gets a 2-inch touchscreen and a rugged body that’s waterproof without the need for a polycarbonate housing.

We have used the last iteration of the Hero and at £100 was pretty cheap but basic, it offered good video quality in good light and a low price. While the price of the new model is more expensive there are more features on offer.

  • Waterproof housing up to 10 meters
  • Record video at 1080p or 1440p at 60 or 30 frames per second (fps) in MP4 at 60Mbps
  • Snap 10-megapixel photos
  • Burst shoot at 10fps
  • Capture time-lapse photos and video at 0.5-second intervals
  • Rear touch screen
  • Voice control
  • WiFi

GoPro also sells the cube-shaped Session for a similar price, the Session will continue to be sold at retailers through the first half of 2018 but will then be discontinued – look out for some good deals here we reckon!

There’s no 4K or slow-mo options for video or raw capture or low-light settings for photos.Go Pro say the Hero is aimed squarely at casual and first-time users who want to shoot and share experiences that they can’t get on a phone.

You can get the new Go Pro Hero from GoPro here and retailers like Argos here
