With the previous release of the Alpine Trail, Marin has added a carbon-framed model to the line-up. It gets all of the bells and whistles that you’ll get on the alloy frame, but this model benefits from a unidirectional carbon front triangle.

Released today is the new carbon version of Marin’s Alpine Trail. It gets the very same geometry as it’s alloy siblings but gets a sleek carbon front triangle.

Topping out the range, there are two models with that new front triangle and with the Carbon 1 model seeing suspension from RockShox and the Yari RC fork with a Deluxe Select + shock. This model gets a full Shimano Deore 12 speed drivetrain with matching MT420, four-pot brakes. Then there’s a TranzX dropper seat post.

For a bit more money, there’s the Carbon 2 which gets a Fox 38 fork, with a DPX2 shock handling the rear suspension. Driving this bike is a full Shimano SLX 12-speed drivetrain with SLX four-piston brakes. The dropper on this bike is an X-Fusion Manic

Both bikes get Marin’s own rims laced to Shimano hubs.

Just like the alloy bikes, these carbon ones see a 63.5° head tube angle, a 78° effective seat tube angle, and a 430mm chainstay. The reach on a large frame measures in at 480mm. There’s 160mm of travel at the front and 150mm at the rear.

The carbon bikes also benefit from the MultiTrac suspension platform seen on the alloy bikes. With this, the brand promises mid-stroke support, bottom-out control and a balance of pedalling efficiency with small bump compliance.

A couple of features on the new bikes is a replaceable downtube protector and a purpose-built accessory mount under the top tube to carry spares.
