The Malverns Classic needs absolutely no introduction. It’s one of the UK’s largest mountain bike festivals, and once again, it’s descending on the Malvern Hills for another year.
Over four days (20-23 August), the Malverns Classic, sponsored by Cannondale, will become a home for everything mountain bike.
Not only is it bringing an event expo with over 130 exhibitors, but it’s also packed full of all kinds of racing, so it makes an excellent step into a genre of riding you might not have tried before.

Racing kicks off on Thursday with the DMR Pump Track Challenge, where BMX riders and mountain bikers alike will go head-to-head to see which is actually faster. Friday welcomes the Balance Bike World Champs and the Old Skool BMX Race. But that’s not all, as there’s also the Red Torpedo Dual Slalom, the DMR Dirt Wars, the Stans Whip-Off and the X-Fusion Best Trick.
Racing doesn’t stop there, as Saturday brings the Schwalbe Tyres Downhill Race, the Cannondale Cross Country and more. Honestly, I’ll be here all day if I list all of the racing. But perhaps the most exciting event is the British Cycling 4x National Championships, which is definitely a biggie.

While approachable racing is a key facet of the Malverns Classic, there’s an awful lot more going on. When the riding slows down for the evening, live entertainment is the order of the night with DJ Doddy (yes, that Doddy) spinning the decks amongst others throughout the weekend.
Perhaps the perfect accompaniment to the live music is a licensed bar, making the Macarena that bit more tempting.
If all of that isn’t enough, the Malverns Classic will be bringing its famous BMX and MTB Retro Show and Shine, making a perfect opportunity to get stuck into the roots of mountain biking, and remember how far the technology has come.
So you don’t forget, the Malverns Classic is taking place from the 20th to the 23rd of August. Adult weekend tickets will set you back £108.30, while day tickets cost £54.15, with booking fees included. Of course, there are discounted rates for teenagers and kids, too.
