The Rocket, Cotic’s classic steel framed enduro machine, has been updated for 2018, getting stretched out Longshot geometry in combination with more travel for a bike that they say is even more capable than ever.

For a start, the Droplink suspension has sprouted an extra bit of travel, bringing it up to 157mm from the original 150mm. At the rear, you now also get Boost 148 dspacing for increased stiffness and it’s single ring only, meaning the main pivot is extra broad for improved stiffness.

The Reynolds 853 steel mainframe has also seen some serious changes, namely getting a whole lot longer and slacker. The bike is now made to work around a dinky 30-35mm stem, which has resulted in reach moving up to 481mm for a large frame and the head angle now lives at a respectably slack 64.5º. At 75º, the seat angle isn’t hugely steep, though 437mm chainstays are said to help balance out the front to rear weight balance when you’re riding.

Cotic’s founder, Cy Turner, is somewhat evangelical when it comes to the new bike: “It’s so confidence inspiring in the steep stuff. I vividly remember testing the bike at Revolution Bike Park in Feb 2016 with the team. I was scared about riding at Revs, but one run down Ghetto and I was hooked. Smashing the front of the bike off drops and into this great big rooty holes with this brilliant feeling of ‘I can’t crash this bike’. A proper revelation and Revolution!”

The bike will come in four sizes from small to extra large, with prices starting at £1499 for a frame and shock, while complete builds start at £2699 and go up £4499 for the top spec Platinum bike. Thanks to Cotic’s direct sales model, you can also custom spec your complete bike and a whole range of custom tuned shocks are available for the bike, including a Cane Creek DB Coil option.
