We’ve got a brand new hardtail from Specialized that we’ve managed to review already, a load of new kit from Deity and shoes from Ride Concepts so we can ride like the Athertons!

Specialized Fuse Comp 29

The new Specialized’s Fuse trail hardtail launch day is today but we’ve had a Comp 29er in for test for a few weeks now. Jon’s full review is here, if you want to read the whole thing, otherwise it’s a 130mm trail hardtail that blends balanced handling with some very neat features. It’s got a very respectable spec list for a shop bought bike, but dedicated distance sluggers will find it too heavy and those after techy thrills will find the geometry a bit tame.

Deity 35 Carbon bars and Copperhead stem

New from Deity is a 35 carbon bar and corresponding stem. The bars we have here are the Speedway which come in a diameter of 35mm  (obvs), a width of 810mm and in a 30mm rise. There is also the Skywire 35mm carbon bar with a 15 or 25mm rise and a width of 800mm with a 9 degree bend and a 5 deg upsweep.

There are also sets of aluminium bars in a 35mm diameter too, the Racepoint, Ridgeline and Topside series with various widths and rises model dependent.

The Copperhead 35mm stem is designed to be used with all the above bars, whether you are going downhill racing or enduro riding. It’s got a 33mm stack and comes in a 35 or 50mm length and a load of different colours to match your bars.

Deity grips

Also from Deity are these single lock on Waypoint and Knuckleduster grips. Waypoint grips have a small knurled pattern and are for those who like a thinner grip with a 31mm diameter, the latter are chunkier at 32mm diameter and use a half waffle, half mushroom ribbing.

Ride Concepts shoes

Hitting the headlines after being worn by the Athertons, we’ve got two pairs of flat shoes in for review and a pair of clipless shoes on the way. These are the Women’s Livewire shoes and the Hellion shoes from the men’s shoes. Both have D30 insoles and the companies DST 6.0 High Grip rubber outsole.
