There’s lots of good stuff going on at this weekend's Cycle Show including a final chance to win a Cervélo P4 bike courtesy of sports nutrition supplier ZipVit Sport and an opportunity to get a little shaken if not stirred on the i-ride stand.
ZipVit is offering the Cervélo TT/tri bike, worth a cool £7,999, as part of a prize draw and will be bringing it along to the show which opens to the public on Friday.
The P4 was hailed by Cervélo co-founder Phil White as the biggest leap the Canadian company had ever made in aero-bike technology when it was launched in 2008.
Ridden by stars including Carlos Sastre, Thor Hushovd and Heinrich Haussler, the bike features aerodynamically invisible brakes, an integrated water bottle and a host of other design innovations. In fact, it was so ground-breaking that when it was first used, several cycling federations complained that it gave riders an unfair advantage over the others.
Warren Bailey, CEO of ZipVit Sport, said: “The Cervelo P4 has proved to be an excellent way of attracting people to our stand all year and so from that point of view we’ll be sorry to see it go.
“However, someone has to win it and this will be the last chance for visitors to put their name in the hat before we make our big draw on November 1.”
As for the distributor i-ride, as you would expect there will be new bikes and components from all of their main brands including Eddy Merckx Cycles, Sunn Bikes, De Rosa, Fulcrum, 3T, Northwave, Campagnolo Clothing and components, Speedplay, etc. But the James Bond connection?
“The ideas is to highlight the shared passion for style, heritage and performance that the brands i-ride supports have at their core.” Said Tom Marchment, Marketing Manager for I-ride.
So on the stand will be an Aston Martin DBS and ‘Bond’ Girls and Boys who will be there to serve you drinks from the ‘Martini Bar’ and help enter the competition to win a track day in a Aston Martin Vantage at Thruxton.
You can also have your picture taken by a professional photographer with the car, bikes, Eddy and ‘Bond’ Models and the guys at i-ride will email you the results.
“It may all sound a little over-the-top but we wanted to make the experience a bit more memorable for anyone who makes the effort to travel to the show and visit our stand, and of course this is all designed to highlight and work with the new products we have on the stand”, said Marchment.
