I once had a nasty incident involving a spoon. How many people are injured every year by spoons? I think the good Baroness should head up a Parliamentary committee immediately to look into this matter before another person is needlessly put at potential harm.

I once trod on a cat, it was horrid, the cat screamed and I felt terrible for at least five minutes afterwards. I would like to put forward a motion that cats should wear hi-viz at all times and fines of up to £30 for owners of cats caught not wearing it.

    Clearly this is the most

Clearly this is the most important issue in Baroness McIntosh of Pickerings’ life.

I do think Belgium would be fun cause of the beer.. and the Netherlands..

France, Belgium, Netherlands back to Harwich and home for teatime 🙂

I’d sack off the ferry and catch the chunnel at the moment though cause it’s nicer, faster and not owned by the evil capitalists at DP World.

Well the world is literally your lobster Rodney. You can leave London in any direction and have a good ride. Traffic will of course be busy everywhere that weekend so take that into account.

Brittany Costal Path could be a nice idea.. or explore Jersey, Gurnsey or closer to home the Isle Of Wight.. what about a ride from London to Angelsey though Wales and get the train back.

    Peanut butter sarnies are

Peanut butter sarnies are easy to make, carry & eat (in squares obvs), sometimes with banana in too.

Salted nuts. Fig rolls are my go to snack (although I’m not sure whether they are savoury or sweet), bananas, homemade oat/flapjack things are dead easy and you can find the flavour/recipe which suits you

Rice cakes filled with anything if your up for some prepwork. (Flapjacks are easier).

Veg Samosa, snickers and chocolate milk from garages..

I tend to keep away from meat when cycling as it doesn’t digest quickly.

IMHO it’s all about marginal cost. For my family to get an evening bus into the city centre costs £8 for a return. The kids travel free. To drive in and park costs £1.50. The distance is approx 2 miles. If you already own a car it makes no economic sense to take public transport. If we shifted taxes etc on cars so marginal costs were higher but fixed costs lower (revenue neutral overall) then I think more people would take public transport. *For the avoidance of doubt we don’t actually drive into town but it would make economic sense to do so.

This ^^ – Bus ticket prices can be an outrage for shorter journeys. £15 for one adult and three kids for a return ticket to travel 2miles fom the bus stop 20meters away from my house.

    I’ve not noticed the litter

I’ve not noticed the litter thing, but I don’t really do sportifs.

However, waving/greetings. Some days it does seem as there are more ‘ignorant sods’ on bikes than others… other riders lack of communication won’t stop me from waving though. Got to keep on passing the love to our fellow brothers and sisters of the saddle.

Ian’s nailed it with the ‘local knowledge’ comment. If I’m planning a one day ride I’ll usually ask someone.

My personaly routing choice of website is https://cycle.travel/ which I find dead easy to use.

My mates tacx neo 2 on a concrete floor is silent, literally the only noise comes from his drivetrain (which is hardly anything), it’s bonkers quiet! (But they are pricey..)

Just anecdotally, I ruined the connector on my garmin 530 and Garmins customer service was, simply put, exemplary! Since then, I’ve heard the same from a couple of mates who’ve also had repairs or replacements and had to deal with Garmins CS. I wasn’t a fanboy before I had a problem and frankly was preferring to maybe get a wahoo.. now however, from my experience, I’m an advocate of Garmin!

I brought the 530 not wanting

I brought the 530 not wanting to spend the extra on the touchscreen 830.. kinda wished I had, the buttons on the 530 are simply not intuitive and it feels like it was designed to be a touch screen. Saying that, you of course will get used to the buttons eventually, so… you pays your money and you makes your choices.

    That is the most ridiculous

That is the most ridiculous defence I’ve ever read.

It seems worse (if it can be) by the fact the ‘director’ drives a gas guzzling mustang which does 0-60 in 4.3seconds.. so he’s been caught speeding before, probably multiple times, in a really speedy car, and then says he gets travel sick if he’s not driving a car himself.. and that’s his argument.. sheer madness!
