Just saw this dreadful news (below) about CrippledCyclist, aka Heavy Metal Handcyclist. Only knew him from Twitter and his contributions to discussions on road.cc, but he was always good humoured, funny and passionate about active travel and the rights of disabled cyclists. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.

His partner is asking me to share the news with the cycling, activism, and disability circles which were so important to him.

My condolences to his partner, family and friends. I followed him on Twitter. He was incredibly knowledgeable on matters regarding disability cycling and helped a lot of people around those issues.

Thanks for sharing Rendel – all of us at road.cc were really saddened to hear this, I see his last contributions on the Longleat story were as informative and witty as always! 

I’ve been in touch with a friend of his who says a crowdfunder will be set up to raise money for some causes he cared about – I will post details on the forum if and when we get them. 

RIP Crippledbiker, you’ll be sorely missed.
