Brexit is not to blame for
Brexit is not to blame for the current lack of HGV drivers.. the issue with a shortage of HGV drivers is an old one in the UK specifically.
WHY? Becuase in the UK we look on lorry driving as a crap job, which it is. It usually consists of stupid hours, constant pressure, terrible living conditions, being away from home and on top if that it’s actually dangerous. Add in the added risks of migrant issues for which you might get prosecuted for (rightly) and throw in a pandemic which has made things very difficult to cross borders and there you have it. For 30years the british public have not tried to recruit drivers to it’s aging population of drivers or change up the haulage industry in any meaningful manner, so year by year the lorries on our roads are driven by either foreign drivers working for UK firms or, and ‘mainly’, foreign haulage firms. Long distance HGV drivers get paid better for working for foreign firms, our most famous firm Eddie Stobart is considered an awful employer within the industry. Also on the continent HGV driving isn’t looked down upon like it is in the UK, they put up with all the same issues, but the service stations are often that bit nicer on across the pond. Even with a more ‘respected job for driving and better pay’ Europe has long had an issue with staffing HGV’s, throw covid in the mix and it’s simply tipped them over the edge. You get a few people off isolating more than you’d normally account for and due to everything being so lean and timed to the bare minimum.. well that’s really why we’re where we are.
I speak not with first hand knowledge but from my bestie who does speak with a career in long distance haulage.

The ‘ponies’ in the new
The ‘ponies’ in the new forest which this article refers to (as horses) are ‘a bit different’ to usual ponies, horses, sheep, cattle etc.. they are left to wander the forest and villages within the forest with impunity, they are used to dealing with people, cars, cyclists and honestly don’t get spooked easily. The article seems like a biased twisted take on reality and does nothing but stir up discontent towards cyclists.
The new forest generally, whilst being one of my favourite places in the UK to ride a bike is also one of the worst places to ride, I guess becuase so many people want to around there for leisure and the whole area is seasonal that the locals view cyclists simply as a nuicance. It also does not help that the roads can be narrow and aren’t very well kept by the local authorities.

That whole article is a
That whole article is a massive pile of horseshit.
I’m pretty sure there isn’t one pony in that whole forest which would be spooked by a cyclist.
Also if we were feeling really naughty.. mobile phone number here from the Head Moaner are online https://www.newforestpony.com/the-new-forest/the-agisters/ wouldn’t it be awful if that ended up on a few call center’s lists.

For those of us with 3 second
For those of us with 3 second memories, a trolling post will always be a surprise, a list would help, however I’d probably forget it existed.
If we do determine a list … can I request that anyone who brings party politics or team sky bashing into a discussion at any given inappropriate opportunity be ushered to the top of said list. It”s getting really boring to see…
Man gets bike stolen = That’s the tories for you.
Team Ineos sign Pog and Rog to do domestique duties = How can anyone support cheats who support green washing.
(…you get the idea)

From my persepctive, as
From my persepctive, as someone who generally relishes the hill climb season.. over the last winter I lost motivation and didn’t train, I’ve spent the subsequent months trying to get back. I’m not there, not ready for a hill climb and I’m not alone in my circle of peers.
Don’t loose heart, Hill Climbs won’t disappear, this is just the hangover from covid. Peoples lives are still recalibrating.

This has zero to do with
This has zero to do with tyres.
The answer is frame geometry (wheelbase length, head tube angle, bottom braket height probably being the main factors).
Don’t ask me to explain it.. but I know exactly what you’re talking about, my TCR can be flung around corners like an agile cat, however my defintion sort of glides around corners like a swan and needs more work to get around tighter corners at speed. The definition has a slightly longer wheelbase to the TCR and I think a lower BB also.
The Supersix Evo is known to have a slightly more relaxed geometry than other bikes.

I’m putting four cafe stops
I’m putting five cafe stops down because each is so good for different reasons they deserve to be visited.
1) The Straw Kitchen, Whichford CV36 5PG. Why, it’s a beautiful unique Warwickshire village full of flowers in pots. The cafe itself was made from wattle and daube and has glass in the walls, it was made by and is run by hippy types. Everything is compostable and locally sourced, the food is fantastic and award winning, the coffee is super. The cafe is located within a carefully planted wild flower garden, it is glorious. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g8468653-d8465670-Reviews-The_Straw_Kitchen_Whichford_Pottery-Whichford_Warwickshire_England.html
2) The Mulberry Cafe, Cropredy OX17 1NH. Why, location, service, quality of food in an unexpected setting. Locally sourced food is top notch. In the middle of a unassuming village there lies a converted house, a tiny little cafe run by a flambouant young man who really should be on reality TV somewhere, the juxtaposition is one of the main factors why this cafe stands out, The food is top top notch, coffee is excellent and Cropredy villiages echoes this cafe. This quaint little rural chocolate box village seems to be home to an unusual amount of aged rockers and has since 1976 hosted the largest folk and rock festival you’ve never heard of. https://themulberrycafe.co.uk/
3) Napton Post Office, Napton CV47 8LR. Why, location, service, character. This place never ceases to make me smile. The coffee is mediocre, the food is good, but the place is such fun. Family run and packed from floor to ceiling with local produce for sale there is something for everyone. Location, it’s a charming village on a hill the post office is located just a few hundred meters in one direction from a Water Buffalo farm and at the base of a nice steep grind up tiny narrow lanes past a church to a windmill the place has character. You can sit inside or out and it’s busy with village life and characters as people pop in to get a paper or meet for a coffee, it’s a glorious slice of life. https://www.naptonvillagestores.co.uk/
4) Gilks Garage Cafe, Kineton CV35 0JZ. Located on the main road into Kineton which is a main gateway to the coltswolds from Warwickshire, this is a popular edge of village cafe. Why, it’s an old car garage and sort of museum to it’s history. It’s cooler than I’m making it sound, think 1960’s machanics garage.. anyway, it’s owned by and run by the same family who founded the gargage in the same building in 1949, generations of old fella’s later and the father/daughter team of the most recent ‘Gilks’ decide to do something different, and it’s ace. Lots of outside space and bike parking, always cyclists passing and stopping, the food is fantastic, it’s a popular eatery for the local villages and they do Sunday lunches when they aren’t doing coffee and cake. You can’t help but like this place. https://gilksgaragecafe.com/
5) Bakery on the Water, Bourton-on-the-Water GL54 2BY. Why.. Location, service & that bakery smell. I’ve never had anything from here which isn’t fantastic. Awesome food & good coffee. Lovely friendly family run bakery and cafe servicing a horde of locals and vast numbers of tourists in the summertime. Located in a beautiful village just over a tiny bridge which I’m sure American tourists would stop and take a picture of. Outside seating in the rear, good clean toilet facilities. There’s always something to see here, it’s a top drawer cafe! http://www.bakeryonthewater.co.uk/
Don’t ask me to choose one.. I can’t, they are all awesome.

He should get something..
He should get something.. maybe an OBE.. Knighthood might be pushing it a bit, he’s not old enough rich enough or royal enough for that dodgy accolade.
He’s already got an MBE and has been Sportsperson of the year.
I reckon (pick a name out of the hat footballer) is probably nailed on for Sportsperson of the year 2021. Although I feel that ‘should be’ the suitable accolade Cav gets IMO (as he is the British sportsperson of the year)..
The nation should be aware JUST WHY he deserves to be the sportsperson of the year again, with ten years between each award, that would be something special and would add another element to drive this epic comeback story.
That reddit thread is a shower, however with no media behind cycling in any form and the English nation riled up into a frenzy of football to the point where people have quite literally lost all sense and reason.. what do we expect?
