Whenever I find my phone doesn’t work in a hotel room, I just head to the lobby as the reception is there.March 19, 2023 at 7:21 pm in reply to: Car crashes into building – please post your Local news stories #967041

Apparently the car “left the road” mysteriously and somehow got itself stuck. Luckily a “young adult male” was able to be rescued…
More at Somerset live.
Clearly an “accessibility” issue – if they’d have made the stairs wider the car would no doubt have freed itself…
Shocking – no mention of whether the hotel had daytime lights on.

it’s possible the driver suffered a medical episode before the crash. Dodgy tikka.
The emergency services tried to reverse the car back out, but it was a naan-starter

A driver caught on the phone
A driver caught on the phone at the wheel stuck his middle finger up – to undercover police officers. The motorist realised he was being filmed – but was unaware it was by officers on patrol.

That’s just round corner from me and we’ve been waiting a couple of years for Beaufort Rd to be made one way. It’s a bit of a rat run as it goes parallel with the busy A420 Church Rd, but it’s too narrow for two way traffic and the pavement is frequently completely blocked by parked vehicles on the cemetary side (nothing to do with the cemetary as that has its own parking).

The big issue is that the FSD
The big issue is that the FSD is not really ready for use on the roads yet (hence why the EU etc don’t allow it) and other road users are unwitting participants in Tesla’s development cycle. After sitting in a colleague’s Tesla and seeing the poor performance of the AI’s view of the surroundings, I don’t think it’s even approaching the ability of the worst drivers.

Only a mere 363,000 vehicles across all model platforms, so probably far easier to blame it on individual driver error than complete system failure

I don’t trust Tesla to be entirely open and truthful with the data from their black box systems. They have an incentive to not assign blame to the FSD system.

I agree, and drivers often don’t leave enough space when following other vehicles.

That’s just round the corner from me.
I think they started enforcing the rules when the affordable flats were built as before that it was just a car park with some very untidy recycling bins at one end. The flats are suspended, so there’s a bunch of parking bays underneath that I think are for use by the residents and then bays round the outside that are for visitors.

You shouldn’t need a torque
You shouldn’t need a torque wrench for thru axles at all. Ideally they should hold the wheel in exactly the same place and orientation, so I wonder if you’ve got the wrong length TA in there? It’d be worth checking that the brake disc is on tight and doesn’t have any movement too and the wheel bearings too.

Perhaps chucksneed or other can help with this one though as I never understood this in my physics lessons? Why would you want to carry a ladder into a shed then straight out the other side again? Why would a shed have a door at either end? How you could hope to go through a shed in a hurry without tripping over something?Yeah, the version that makes more sense is a train going through a tunnel. However, the ladder/barn paradox does have doors which allows for an observer to see both barn doors closed with the ladder inside even though the ladder is longer than the barn.
