A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

But you get 10 years VED-free motoring courtesy of DVLA and Lancashire Constabulary!

Looks like it would probably carry almost as much as a “light truck” SUV in a much more compact package also! And the forward / side viewing angles look excellent also.

You will see on the first photo an unused seatbelt behind the female passenger, and it was Lancashire Constabulary who issued the FPN to Rishi Sunak for failing to wear a seatbelt on the evidence of an Instagram post.

OTOH, what do you reckon the scam is? Like is there maybe a stables, a smallholding or a landscaping business to provide some kind of fig leaf? It would be interesting to know what journeys he makes. Red diesel?

It was taxed for its first

it looks to me like it wouldn’t need tax or MOT if it was only used for short distances on the road

It was taxed for its first year and was therefore allocated a tax band. As Rendel keeps saying, it’s the DVLA which decrees whether they have to pay real money, but they still have to renew every year. It would be a DVLA failure if they then recorded VED as ‘missing’ for 10 years. That’s not impossible, as DVLA is pretty hopeless. I’m still going for evasion! We’ll see if my MP manages to get anything out of them, or if they hide behind the usual GDPR to cover up. It’s regularly travelling at least 4 miles into Garstang and back, and likely further- I have several photos going back to 21 but previously all of the front. There’s no front plate and they’ve carefully hidden the rear plate. It’s road-homologated and may well be entitled to a reduced rate, but not a zero rate! The trouble is that it’s the Wild West up here for traffic law- there are numerous massive horsepower tractors and trailers with no plates at all, and they would crush a big Transit no bother, never mind a cyclist, and would get away with saying they thought it was a bag of potatoes

    the usual depressing stuff

the usual depressing stuff from local retailers. The home and garden shop is the one with the cones outside it on the right.

Fears grow as Brecon traders question town centre revamp’s impact

“The proposed changes to make it look pretty and everything are great – everyone agrees the pavements need attention and we need to smarten up the town – but taking away convenient parking used mainly by locals is terrible for business,” he said.

One of the most contentious aspects of the scheme is the removal of free roadside parking on High Street and the Bulwark, alongside a re-routing and narrowing of the carriageway.

Local traders say this could deter customers, especially those making quick visits or purchasing heavy items.

“My big issue is access for customers. Are they going to be prepared to walk from a car park to where we are?” he said.

“If you want to pop into town for a pot of paint or buy a large product, there will be nowhere to park just outside the stores, so people just won’t bother coming in.”

    Arguing about a one hour

Arguing about a one hour tariff and of course people will go “elsewhere” if it’s too expensive to park.

Said a town traders assoc spokesman “after 2 years’ hard work, we managed to obtain a concession from Powys council that drivers can pay £1.50 to park for an hour instead of a minimum £2.50 for two hours.  Now we look forward to a new era of prosperity as customers roll in, ready to buy” Another trader added “let’s hope we can now put behind us the era of paying £2.50 to park, which has done so much to stifle trade – the one hour tariff can’t come soon enough”

Bitter parking row ends with one-hour tickets being brought back

It took almost two years for the car park proposals to be agreed

The reasons I think this is a
The reasons I think this is a record are the behaviour in trying to hide the reg., me seeing the vehicle several times on public roads over the years and the fact that it was allocated a taxation category when it was new. Never had an MOT, but it might be exempt- it’s very difficult to find that out. It’s going in my letter to my MP about the numerous failings of DVLA, unless somebody on here comes up with a good excuse for the driver

Well, hands up who thinks this is a problem for somebody? It’s John Deere Cross-Over Utility vehicle PO64 AUR. The rear plate is determinedly obscured, but I’ve got it. Could it be a record?
