Someone was asking about the “Spirit of BMW” – here’s a candidate.  F-bomb warning, unsurprisingly. Not sure who’s the worse to share the roads with TBH.

Kent CC meetings calendar for June – I make it 11 out of 22 either cancelled or postponed. The most amusing thing I think is the Member Development Committee – this lot are the most in need of this stuff, but are running scared of it.

The one that terrifies them the most, because it undermines the mindset, is equalities /diversity/inclusion. It starts off by saying “Other people exist. Their story, situation, level of privilege and perspective may be different to yours and are equally valid.”

They might even do this: https://www.lakelandcollege.edu/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/InclusionDiversity-Classroom_Activity_Privilege_Walk.pdf

I thought my wife was making a joke when she said that the new leader of Warwickshire CC looked about 18 – he really is! So having come back from holiday in the Dominican Republic, the original leader stood down for health reasons.

This is turning out to be the UK’s version of the ‘Miracle on the Hudson’…

Aother video with people seeing something extraordinary happening, staring at it for a bit, then driving on / getting back on their phones.  Apparently not out of fear of what they might find there, just unconcerned…

Am I getting fuddy?  Will I soon be saying “back in my day everyone would have dropped what they were doing and rushed to the scene…” (and would my memory have betrayed me)?

Isn’t the correct procedure to film it for a few seconds, put it on your fave SoMe and say something mawkish along the lines of “hope everyone is OK”? Or are we past that now?

Maybe where you’re getting “fuddy” is that a lot of people don’t apply the loco parentis test in their lives “here’s a situation: what is the best way I can help or be of use?” Walking on by is an acceptable answer some times.

I find incidents with buses depressing – aren’t they meant to be safe, a bit humdrum?

    Didn’t know Auto Express had

Didn’t know Auto Express had a Thought for the Day slot.

“And as I, a weary traveller, entered Chievely Services the other Saturday morning, I thought there was something spiritual about the place, the light streaming in, it was full of joy; the careful arrangement of Leon, KFC, Waitrose and a man selling mobile phone covers, the constant to-ing and fro-ing to the toilets, and the gambling machines, reminiscent of a quiet side chapel, the display of leaflets for tourist attractions 30 or 40 miles away. The lemur on the front of the Whipsnade Zoo leaflet struck an almost primal urge in me to drive on as my daughter was expecting me by 12.”

Council’s £195k spend on 20mph signs slammed as ‘a total waste of time and money’

Actually I think they are onto something here. Save money by not having speed limit signs but keep the speed limits and increase the number of cameras. It would pay for itself in no time and save loads of money.

You mean ruin your clutch and gears while making still more pollution than before, dozing off because it’s all so boring AND get 3 points and fine?  Wicked, wicked poster.

It comes after the workers were described as “b*****ds” and “disgusting people” in two now-deleted posts on a Facebook group called Ashford Kent Read All About It.
