British bike brand Pashley has added two e-bike models to its Classic Collection. The new bikes are called Britannia E and Briton E and both use Mahle’s X30 hub drive system. Prices start at £2,795 for non-belt drive versions.

Pashley’s Classic Collection has been a staple of the brand’s range, and now with the addition of the Britannia E and Briton E, there is something for electric bike lovers to enjoy too. Both models retain the Pashley DNA with clean, simple lines with either a step through or diamond frame.

The frames are made from Reynolds steel tubing as well as 3D printed steel lugs, which Pashley says creates a, “lighter, stronger frame with improved compliance.” Andy Smallwood, Pashley CEO, said the e-bike versions of the Classic range are something the brand’s customer base “has been asking for.”

According to Pashley designer, Mark Lloyd, “The challenge was to update Pashley’s classic bicycles with the ease and excitement of electric-assist. A complete redevelopment of our favourite classics, through which we experimented with a multitude of drive systems, transmission options, battery positioning and componentry on a significantly lighter platform has delivered a much-improved ride experience whilst maintaining the essence of a classic Pashley bicycle.”

The Britannia E is the brand’s step-through frame, which uses a chromoly fork with a 12mm thru-axle and several mounting points for luggage. It is upon these mounts that riders can add the Porteur rack and the Pashley wicker basket if they so wish.

Interestingly, the bike uses G3ARED’s 3-speed gearbox – one of the first times we’ve seen it outside of G3ARED’s sister company, MiRiDER. The Britannia E and Briton E both offer options for a Gates carbon belt drive as well as Shimano hydraulic disc brakes.

The Briton E is the diamond shape framed variant, and again uses the Mahle X30 system with an external Mahle eX1 battery mounted to the rear rack. Both bikes come with swept back handlebars, 700c wheels and a Brooks B67 saddle to add to the classic feel.

Both the Briton and Britannia E cost £2,795 for the non-belt drive variant, and £2,995 for the belt drive option. The bikes are made to order in Stratford-upon-Avon, and are available to purchase online or through dealers now.
