Knog has announced a recall of early production runs of its Blinder 900 and Blinder 1300 front bicycle lights due to potential battery issues. Certain batches of Blinder 80 StVZO and Blinder 120 StVZO are affected by the recall too.

If you own one of these models, you should check its batch code via Knog’s Product Recall Portal. It’s a really simple process. If your light is among those affected, you’re eligible for a free replacement and should follow the process online.

“After consulting with Knog’s online portal, affected customers should swiftly dispose of their units safely, and in accordance with local ordinances,” says Knog.
Although it’s termed a ‘recall’, Knog isn’t asking for the lights to be returned. You claim your replacement – be prepared to upload proof of purchase (if available), a photo of your bike light, and current shipping information – and then dispose of your current light. Improper disposal of lithium-ion batteries can lead to environmental hazards and safety risks, so don’t just stick ’em in the bin.

Knog’s Chief Operating Officer Mal McKechnie says, “Here at Knog, we pride ourselves on being experts in safety, and customer safety is our absolute top priority. While we understand that a product recall is never ideal, we want to proactively reach out to the market to prevent any additional product failures moving forward.”
Knog says that all other products in its range are safe to use.
