What was the first name of the Fountain bloke who saved the towns below by running down when the dams began to overflow?
Bradfields (High and Low) are that the head of a steep valley (with dams that used to run the factories below) this is one of the few places where you can put your bike on the bus (from Hillsborough) which goes to Bradfields weekdays and Strines on Sundays (and Rivelin on the A57) Takes the uphill slog out of the day.
Another good run is to use the trains off-peak to the Hope Valley - peak time I've counted 70-80 passengers & 7 bikes on the 102-set trains, and current record for these is 14 bikes, and I suspect 100% of passengers with bikes on one rural route. 6-8 bikes on these trains off-peak usually no problem, good for night in village pub and home by train.
Awesome, i live just over the hill from Low Bradfield. That will be funny, riding back after a few discounted beers in the OLD HORNS pub!
