We’ve been itching to get on this fat tyred adventure bike ever since we heard of its existence back in September last year! Finally, the Genesis Fugio has landed and just in time for some good weather too.

The Fugio is dubbed as a ‘road plus monster’ sticking with the Genesis philosophy to make bikes that other companies might deem ‘too odd’. Genesis says the bike is a mix of their road bike the Equilibrium Disc and their drop barred allrounder, the Croix de Fer with a sprinkle of Tarn from the mountain bike range.
The MjÖlnir Seamless Double-Butted Cromoly frame sports 650B wheels, large 50c tyres and a carbon fork to make a bike that will happily and comfortably take you wherever you want to go, both on and off-road.
The complete bike will have a 2×11 speed Shimano 105 groupset and Shimano RS-505 hydraulic disc brakes with 160mm rotors. The 21mm internal diameter rims come courtesy of Jalco with Formula hubs, Clement X’Plor tyres and 12mm thru axles front and rear. On our medium sized bike we’ve got 420mm wide flared drop bars and a 100mm stem both from Genesis.
Checking out the geometry and its clear to see the Fugio has some mountain bike input, it falls into the camp of one of the longer gravel bikes we’ve seen lately with a 1045mm wheelbase, its got a pretty tall headtube too at 165mm and a slack (for gravel bikes) head angle of 70.5 degrees.
There are all the rack and fender mounts you will need and tyre clearance looks pretty decent too.
In this spec, and it’s the only one available, we weighed ours in at 11.34kg (25lbs). The full build will come in at a penny under £2,000. You will also be able to get the frameset for £800. Full builds come in this eye-catching white/ orange/blue, but if you buy a frameset it’ll be a rather bright orange and blue. Keep an eye out soon for a full review.
