Redbridge Cycling Centre on the outskirts of London is the second round of our BikeLIVE demo day series and for this one road.cc isn’t just organising it alongside our battery powered sister site ebiketips, the knobbly tyred, baggy clothed team from off-road.cc are joining us too.
Redbridge has purpose built tracks you see, all located in the centre of the site giving easy access from our event village to smooth, traffic free tarmac or off into the dirt to test out those gravel/adventure bikes and MTB’s.
Across the three websites we get to review a massive range of bikes throughout the year at every single price point so BikeLIVE is our way of bringing as many of those bikes and their manufacturers all together in one place.
At our BikeLIVE events this year there was around one hundred different models available to play on from many of the big manufacturers who’s staff are also on hand to give you any details and help you may need with regards to the bikes in their range.
Some of the brands run a direct to consumer model too so getting a test ride on one of their bikes isn’t as simple as just popping down to your local bike shop.
With a whole day’s worth of riding you can demo as many bikes as you like until your hearts content, trying various models of the same price point or maybe taking that dream bike for a spin in a traffic free environment.
Never ridden an e-bike, electronic gearing or hydraulic disc brakes? Well here’s your chance.
The whole demo day is centered within the Redbridge Cycling Centre so once you’ve registered everything you need is right where you want it.
Each of the stands will be situated in our event village with easy access to all of the available tracks whether you are going on or off-road. It’ll literally be a matter of getting your pedals fitted and saddle adjusted before you’re straight back out on the next bike.
We’ll also have a selection of local food and drink vendors on hand throughout the day to keep those legs topped up with fuel and plenty of coffee to muse over which of the bikes you’ve tried is likely to become your next n+1.
We’ll be announcing more over the coming weeks, taking a closer look at all of the brands that have signed up for the event and what models they are bringing with them so for now we’ll just drop a couple of teasers.
Canyon have always been a popular brand amongst you, and it was probably one of the busiest stands at our Bath event last year. Being a German based, direct to consumer retailer getting a test ride on a Canyon isn’t as simple as popping to your local bike shop for a quick spin so this is a great opportunity to chuck your leg over the latest machines to gauge sizing and spec levels.
The in-house brand of Chain Reaction Cycles and wiggle is bringing a selection of their range across all disciplines to BikeLIVE at Redbridge Cycling Centre so you can find out why they’ve always done so well in our reviews.
We’ve always been impressed by the ride quality of the frames and excellent spec lists for the money throughout the range.
Bikes like the Energie Cyclo X and the Zenium SL Disc have received 9/10 reviews recently from us and this could be your chance to fling a leg over them to see what you think.
Even six months ago e-bikes were still seen as a bit of a joke by a lot of cyclists but the with the way battery technology is storming ahead more and more people are realising that they are actually a real alternative to other modes of transport.
Above all else they can be an absolute hoot to ride too!
German brand Haibike have delved right into the juiced bike genre and will be bringing a range of e-MTB’s to BikeLIVE for you to have a blast around on.
Their models consist of alloy hardtails through to carbon fibre full-sussers covering a large spectrum of prices so there’ll be something there for everyone.
Go on, have a blast. Even if you are the most hardened roadie out there we guarantee the thrill of a motor assisted bike off-road will bring a smile to your face.
It’s not every day that you have such access to a leading tyre brands top experts, but BikeLIVE visitors will have just that and will be able to ask the Maxxis team everything and anything that there is to know about road, cyclocross, BMX and mountain bike tyres.
The team will be able to offer in depth insight into the innovative technologies that the Maxxis tyres are made with, as well as tailored advice to help riders find the perfect tyre to
suit their needs.
As well as Q+A’s, Maxxis will be giving you the chance to see its newly released tyres including the Relix BMX, High Roller II, Minion DHF and the Wide Trail model of the Minion DHR II, all of which will be on display at the events.
Some tyres will even be involved in demonstrations and will be used as OE on some fantastic bikes which will be available to ride on throughout, so that you can experience the quality of Maxxis tyres for themselves.
Well first things first it shouldn’t cost you anything. At just £15 a ticket it’s the perfect price for a Christmas present from a loved one but failing that it’s still a cracking deal for a full day of cycling indulgence.
If you do arrive home to a disgruntled partner with a brand new bike it wasn't our fault though okay!
As part of the Tech Hub here at F-At Digital, our senior product reviewer Stu uses the knowledge gained from putting well over a 1,000 products through their paces (including hundreds of bikes) to write in-depth reviews of a huge range of kit. After first throwing his leg over a race bike back in 2000, Stu's ridden more than 160,000 miles on road, time-trial, track, and gravel bikes, and while he's put his racing days behind him he still likes to smash the pedals rather than take things easy. Although, as he spends a fair bit of his time reviewing ebikes these days he's becoming an expert in letting the motor take the strain. He's also waiting for 23mm race tyres to make a comeback!
