3D printed titanium CeramicSpeed Jockey wheels. $1,700!

Not a typo. $1,700 for jockey wheels. Yep.

Well, what can we say? If you want the ultimate, and I mean money no object ultimate, then these are a must.

CeramicSpeed, a company renowned for creating smoother things than Barry White's music, have just released a new set of jockey wheels.

The jockey wheels, which have been inspired by daisies, are 3D printed from titanium. The reason is that the tianium jockey wheels are "designed to be 10% lighter than the aluminium versions and are twice as durable".

Oh and the price, well you'll be breaking the bank as these cost a whopping $1,700. You could nearly get our Bike of the Year, the Boardman Road Pro Carbon SLR, for the same price.

Bike of the Year 2016/17

Despite the price, there will certainly be a fair few takers as these will fit existing CeramicSpeed OSPW systems.

The jockey wheels will feature on a handmade bike on display at the North American Handmade Bicycle Show

Ugly and slow-looking.  For that money I want everyone who spies my jockey wheels to know exactly how fast it is unrealistic for a man of my physique to pretend to be.

€199 for their standard Al pulleys, so €1,500 extra for the Ti, and they're not very aerodynamic!

I'm sure williamsongoods.com could make them more expensive by upgrading with a python wrap!

Some stellar advice for Ceramic Speed "just because you can, doesn't mean you should".

I genuinely wonder who the target customers are? Bonafide world tour riders or Sir 'I ride a Pinerello don't you know' Sugar.

Problem is that once I fit them to one bike, the difference will be so astounding that I will have to fit them to the other bikes as well.

And to think, I baulked at paying £17 for a pair (found them elsewhere for £7 delivered, exact same part)

And what is going on with that chain?

...Looks like they pulled out of old paint brush cleaning fluid!

Tha chain,as you are asking is apparently ths cat's nightware too; the UFO chain costs over £100 and, according to ceramicspeed, will last for 200ish miles!

That chain will save a serious athlete 4 watts, and last over 400 miles now. Not for training rides, that chain.

Shotgun the review! I can already see the tag line - 'good flywheels, but a little on the expensive side.'

Could have at least fitted them to a Sram Red eTap derailleur

How much of an improvement are they supposed to actually provide? for that money you could hire someone to drive behind you and give you the (slight) boost that comes from the bow wake of a car behind

with the added benefit that it would protect you from close passes, and they could have a loudhailer shouting, "¡Ándale! ¡Ándale! ¡Arriba! ¡Arriba! ¡Epa! ¡Epa! ¡Epa! Venga! Venga! Venga! Venga!"

take my money now!

Oversized Jockey Wheels? Trickle Down?

Doesn't get much more trickle down than Tourney 1

For all the alleged wattage improvements in that chain coating it looks bloody awful. north of £100 too.

As for the jockey wheels, someone will buy them. Someone with more money than sense. If it's a genuine improvement then hopefully that funds investment and drives down the production cost of their more accessible products so that it can be an option for the less affluent.

I expect to see them on some garish badly fitted #roadbikedubai pics soon.

wouldn't '100% lighter' suggest completely weightless? Obviously bollocks

Thank goodness, I was getting frustrated with nothing new to waste some money on.

Is it for one or two?

....if it was only for one it would be a rip off!
