         It’s better to not be carrying an obvious weapon as that can count against you if the law gets involved. However, you can weaponise your brain and body so that a typical fat, sluggish moton will stand little chance of ever landing a blow.

         Learn a martial art (any one will do) and make sure that you do some sparring to learn the timing and how to avoid simple attacks. That will count for far more than an idiot wielding a baseball bat.

           Learning a martial art is the correct response, not the baseball bat. Once someone learns how to handle themselves then their body language and demeanour change in a conflict situation; this in itself is often sufficient to deter attacks. Of course knowing how to react and handle yourself, should matters escalate is an additional benefit, not the primary, because self defence techniques in cleats would be challenging!

           I always find it strange when people shake their fist and bellow for gun control.  They don’t really mean that they want rid of guns.  They just mean that they want guns taken off of some people.  I don’t recall seeing any of the protestors in the US calling for the various police forces to be disarmed.  Strange then that 277 have so far been killed by police in the US.

5. Americans are an odd bunch

   Americans are an odd bunch anyway. Go and watch some US road rage videos and some UK ones. The first thing I noticed is the American trigger point is massively smaller, literally things the UK motorist wouldn’t even care about or possibly may ‘beep’ someone about. In the US, it’s car chase “you almost killed me, you asshole” when someone changes lane 50ft infront of them. 

   The UK road rage also seems more of a banter competition in a lot of cases, who can find the best insult sort of thing. US road rage is straight to threats to kill or actual violence. 

   If you made your average America drive around somewhere like Bradford they’d be in the psych ward by tea time. I used to know this American who worked at Menwith Hill and he said when took visiting Americans out for drive down our tight and twisty A-roads, they’d be shitting themselves as some of them had never seen anything other than 90degree turns and straights. He was a petrolhead and loves european cars so he was a bit different.
