Police in Dorset are appealing for information following after a cyclist allegedly grabbed another rider by the throat and shoved him into a hedge.

The incident took place at around 9.45am last Friday 29 May at Station Road, West Moors, near Bournemouth following a collision between the two cyclists, say Dorset Police.

One of the riders reportedly grabbed the other, a 31-year-old man from Three Legged Cross, by the throat and pushed him into a hedge.

The man, described as a white male aged in his late 40s and riding “a distinctive gold-coloured Brompton-style bike” then rode off towards Ferndown.

PC Tom Clements, of Verwood police, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed either the collision or the assault immediately after to please call me on 101 [quoting incident number 29:126].

“All calls will be treated in strict confidence.”
