Production Privée is the brainchild of Damien Nosella who, after leaving Commencal, began designing his own range of components, and eventually a steel hardtail. The Production Privée Shan quickly became a hit among hardtail lovers thanks to its then-aggressive geometry and unique frame features. But it was the paint jobs that really made PP frames stand out. While other brands offered subtle colour schemes on their slim steel hardtails, Production Privée took inspiration from retro race cars, and was among the first to launch a bike based on the now-iconic blue-and-orange Gulf Racing livery.

As Production Privée grew in popularity, the range evolved. The original 26in Shan expanded to 27.5in, later spawning the larger-wheeled 29in Shan GT, which remains in the line-up today. Full-suspension models also joined the family, first with the all-steel Shan No5 (27.5in), now refined as a 29er featuring a carbon rear triangle paired with the brand’s signature steel front end.
Over the years, Production Privée developed a cult following across Europe, but in recent times the brand has gradually faded from the UK scene. The good news? They’re back, and teaming up with a British riding legend.
As of today (well, last week), Production Privée frames, parts, accessories, and spares are available to UK customers directly through the Production Privée website. To properly serve the UK market, all products are already stocked within the UK and ready to ship. That means faster delivery and no hidden fees or surprise taxes.
The latest Shan GT hardtails are in stock with updated geometry, the Shan No5 is also available, and the updated Shan No6 is rumoured to be hitting trails soon. Alongside frames, the full range of PP components – bars, stems and grips – is on sale, and there are spares for older models too.

Speaking of older bikes, Production Privée has also launched a new UDH upgrade kit, allowing owners of earlier models to run the latest SRAM Transmission drivetrain without needing to purchase a whole new frame.
Adding to the excitement, Production Privée has partnered with UK riding legend Nigel Page to fulfil UK orders. Even better, Page is currently working on launching his own shop, which will stock select Production Privée bikes — perfect for ‘Steel Is Real’ fans wanting to admire them in person.
