Run, Chris, Run! The Froome-on-foot meme

Even the man himself is joining in

"Froome is Kenyan, so we expect him to run when he doesn't have a bike," said Geraint Thomas in the aftermath of the chaos on Mont Ventoux. For everyone else, it was more of a surprise – the kind that drives them to Photoshop.

The ‘Run, Forrest, Run!’ angle was one that quickly came to mind for many people.

As was the Pamplona bull run.

Triathlon jokes abounded. In a similar vein, this obstacle course offering was one of the more artfully put together.

It seems highly likely the jokes will persist as well. This was from the following stage.

A lot of people drew inspiration from Pokemon Go.

Including Froome himself.

All well and good, but despite this recent surge, our favourite Froome meme remains the old classic, Chris Froome looking at stems.

Alex has written for more cricket publications than the rest of the road.cc team combined. Despite the apparent evidence of this picture, he doesn't especially like cake.

If the moto's in front were farther up the road, then there would have been no problem. I didn't think the crowds were worse than usual

If you ignore the Pokemon gibberish, then the pic that Froome tweeted clearly shows the problem with spectators.

Their is no room to spare, no room for an overtake, and ultimately no room for an emergency stop. If they had left just an extra foot, either side of the road it might have just been avoidable.

perhaps they will learn for next year, to put barriers in to make it at least a 2m wide lane including spectators arm distance, so about 4m wide overall barrier to barrier.
