http://www.bikeradar.com/au/road/gear/category/components/wheel-sets/product/review-swiss-side-gotthard-road-wheelset-49016/%5B/quote%5DThanks for posting – I suppose that’s the thing with reviews, the last one I read pointed out a complete lack of crosswind buffeting, which contrasts with this one. It does make me wonder whether I should have opted for the Ti skewer upgrade to go with them.

Well at 86-ish kg, you’re well under the 105kg weight limit for either set. With the discount, the Gotthard is about £335-ish, for which you gain an extra 6 spokes on the front wheel (the spokes are Sapim CX-deltas instead of the 4mm aero CX-wings on the Franc) and shed less than 100g in weight. You also get black hub and spokes which must be easier to keep clean than the white on the Franc, but you also get a comedy carry-on-style name. That much innuendo would keep my clubmates going for years!Re tyres, you *sure* about gatorskins? I’ve got them on my winter bike, and I lose the best part of 2mph average speed. I’ll be using Conti GP4000 Black Chilli on mine.

Seem to be 439Euro/£347 on their site?I had previously signed up to their mailing list, through which they provided the discount code ‘swisssidepromo’. No reason you can’t use it too. I opted for the free delivery option, but they still sent using the express48 service. They were well-boxed and included a spare spoke for each different spoke length, QR skewers, rim tape (already fitted), a pair of snazzy-looking bidons and a pack of blingy stickers which will probably find their way onto laptops etc.
Given the same direct-to-customer model which ensures the likes of Canyon bikes look great value, a reasonably favourable exchange rate, and reviews comparing them to Dura-Ace C24s, it feels like I got a great deal. Although one of my club-mates took one look at them, all shiny and rather pro-looking, laughed and said “you better be fit to ride round on those next summer!”

When he says Campag makes his OCD itch, I think he’s referring to the Campagnolo branding round the rim looking out of place. I would actually agree! Deero83, I’ve just paid £276 for a Swissside Franc Evo 3 wheelset. This is with 20% off, which is only until the end of the year. The reviews are great, but I’ve not had the opportunity to ride them yet, given the weather and time of year. I can say that they look phenomenal.December 11, 2014 at 9:54 am in reply to: Cannondale Synapse Carbon- RS11 wheel flexing into brakes #822839notfastenough

I’ve just bought a pair of Swissside Franc Evo 3 27mm deep alloy clinchers. I have yet to ride them, but the quality appears to be top-notch, and reviews compare them favourably to Dura-Ace C24s, with the stiffness supposedly a very strong point. With 20% off (until year end), I paid £276.notfastenough
Depends how much you want to
Depends how much you want to spend. I use the sufferfest vids, and the plans are reckoned to be good, but you need to buy a bunch of videos to go with the plan.If you want to spend proper money, then Dave Atkinson on here (see his blog entries) has paid £200+ for proper coaching from a professional. I don’t doubt there will be great results.

Well the deal is just until
Well the deal is just until the end of the year (discount code is swisssidepromo if you give it a shot) but unfortunately I probably won’t be able to report back until the weather improves now. Although you never know, I might be able get a quick spin if it’s not too bad out!For what it’s worth I spent ages looking and researching, and the only other reasonably priced alloy clincher with reasonable weight, lots of stiffness, a slightly deep rim and good reviews that I could find is the Flo 30. That’s from the U.S. though, so you have to add postage and import duties, which are a bit vague.

I liked the look of these,
I liked the look of these, but a wheel builder who posts on here pointed out the spoke count and lacing technique would not make for strong wheels. I’ve instead just paid £276 for a pair of swissside franc evo 3 alloy clinchers. Good reviews even compared against £600 wheels, and still a little bit different. This was in the Christmas sale.notfastenough

FFS, this is getting silly.
FFS, this is getting silly. There’s a piece of the puzzle missing here, isn’t there? Why would you dope using substances that can be traced?Possible reasons I can think of:
They believed what someone else told them, i.e. “it’s untraceable, innit?!” – possible, but surely if you’re going to risk your career you’d read about the stuff on the internet first?
They were dosing wrong or using masking agents incorrectly, or not adhering to all the relevant windows regarding glowtime etc
They simply thought they wouldn’t be caught, but this must mean they thought they wouldn’t be tested, or if they were, their transgression would be ignored.
Any others?

@adamtaylor – I must admit that the skill diversity aspect is something I should embrace anyway. I have a full HD 21 inch monitor. I’m thinking I should take advantage of black Friday this week and add extra RAM and -maaaybe- the core i7 chip to an Air.@freespirit – nice, although I don’t fancy adding 3kg to my rucksack weight for one of the nice ones – both this and my client’s secure laptop will need to be lugged around!

Ok, so it looks like a MacBook is the way forward, after doing some reading. I like how people talk about the ‘apple tax’ but an equivalent windows spec (e.g. Acer Aspire S7) is often at least as expensive. Interesting also how many here have mentioned the Mac but none have suggested anything else.I did think that the £150 premium between the 13″ air and the 13″ pro with retina was more than justified by the better display, faster CPU, more main memory and hardly any more weight, but after reading an in-depth comparison, I’m unsure – it seems that in reality the pro is only slighter quicker and the display is only any use if you use retina apps. I’m not into photography or graphics design, so perhaps the air is better as a business laptop with its lower weight, longer battery life and lower price.
Thanks folks.

The closest I’ve seen on here
The closest I’ve seen on here to the victims integrity being called into question is that crimeline.info website including the testimony from the expert witness for the defence who suggested that she hadn’t been drunk enough to suffer memory loss. The focus of this thread has revolved around his version of events and whether they are thought to be plausible and reasonable behaviour.
