There’s a line. Raleigh’s examples don’t cross it. Tour De bloody everything, on the other hand, does.

My club is ‘Velo’ so I can’t complain about that.

I know – my first thought was “What?!”, followed by “Why would you have dope control at a Sportive anyway?” As for the $8k bike, the rider is apparently ‘good’ enough to be on a team, so kit is likely provided for him.

So, would this make me faster on the club run then?! L)

Great post, and you do indeed make me want to have a go, but what is it with people having a go at Dan Francis? I can well understand any antipathy towards Halfords Marketing Dept etc, but all Francis did was get presented with a cool opportunity and took it!

(Alright, so having the honour of riding the same roads sounded a bit odd, but how many of would know exactly what to say in front of a camera? I’d probably have no words at all, or fumble the entire thing)

    We’re going down, and the
We’re going down, and the estimated times for the race to pass through given sections are:

    Location/time

    The Mall – START 10am

    Hampton Court Palace – 10.35am

    Walton-on-Thames – 10.45am

    Ripley Village – 11.05am

    Gomshall – 11.25am

    Westcott – 11.30am

    Dorking – 11.35am

Box Hill – circuit entrance 11.40am

Box Hill – circuit exit 2.50pm

    Esher – 3.05pm

    Hampton Court Palace – 3.10pm

    Kingston Upon Thames – 3.15pm

    Richmond Park – 3.20pm

    Putney Bridge – 3.30pm

    Fulham – 3.35pm

    The Mall – FINISH 3.40pm

So taking into account Simon’s warning, I reckon if you set things up with a couple of ‘got a dodgy stomach, love’ lines, then nip ‘off to the loo’ by 3:20, you’ll have until about 4 before someone comes looking for you!

Someone told me about a drying spray with iodine – you scrub the wound then spray this on. It dries the wound, meaning no peeling the sheets off in the morning, and I *think* you then don’t cover it. Can’t remember the name of the blasted stuff though.

Keep smiling, this is turning into a walking wounded thread!

JV implied he didn’t have the
JV implied he didn’t have the cash to lure him away – so he took the big paycheck. No problem with that, his performances deserve it, but to then suggest that because he is strongest on a particular terrain, that he should have been team leader to win a whole grand tour, is stretching it a bit.

In the end, after coming 2nd in the vuelta, CF could have gone elsewhere, and likely as team leader. He didn’t and knew the score when he signed.

Everything else is moot. It’s a team sport.

after watching todays stage I am even more convinced that froome should leave sky.

He is 2 min 5seconds behind wiggins, of which he lost 1 min 30 seconds in a puncture early on. On the two big mountain stages froome could have easily took 2-3 mins out of him. It will be interesting to see what froome decides.

ps nibali I hope you are impressed now!

I’m not sure it’s wise to extrapolate that just because Froome can jump off the front on a climb, that he could keep that up and take much time off Brad. Ultimately, CF liks to jump, BW likes to ride tempo. One isn’t necessarily stronger than the other, and until/unless they become rivals, we won’t know for sure.

As for yesterday, Brad said afterwards that he had let it (what he was about to achieve) all get to him emotionally on the last climb and lost focus, which he then worked to regain. I’d argue that this can only come with experience, which Chris doesn’t have yet.

I hope Nibali is impressed too, but if he is, he’s not really admitting it. He said yesterday (or was it the day before?) something like “Team Sky were pushing a fast pace” and that Chris Froome was “an incredible team-mate” – but he’s avoiding conceding that Wiggo is impressing him.

Twice as a child I was within
Twice as a child I was within inches of the anaesthetic for Appendix extraction, then they decided it was constipation and didn’t bother! Hope you’re well.

If I’m honest, it wasn’t the attacking stage I was hoping for when I set out my little plan to work from home for Wednesday with the live footage on next to me with the laptop in front.

    Early break, 38 riders!

Voeckler rode everyone off his wheel to get the KOM jersey and the stage. Great result for him, love the way he lights up a race.

Loads of work early on from Eisel and Cav.

Nibali, Basso and 1 other LC rider attacked a few times but Froome/Wiggo/Porte kept with him, until it whittled down to just the top 3, then near the end of the last climb Nibali went again, Froome was cooked, so Wiggo came round him and chased. Same result as all the other attacks.

Cuddles had a dodgy stomach and kept yo-yo-ing off the GC contenders group until the elastic finally snapped. Teejay pressed on and is now top hope for BMC.

Chris Horner left a riderless bike on the road and launched himself into the adjacent ravine. Got back on and continued.

George Hincapie looked like Pudsey Bear with bandages ahoy.

Still, I got out for a couple of hours afterwards and knocked 24 seconds off my best time on a local cat4. When I’m crocked however, I (health permitting, obviously) do stuff that will benefit me later – stretching, core strength, leg strength exercises, tinkering with the bike. Even though you’re not on the bike, I find that the feeling of your fitness withering away is decreased and it’s easier to deal with.

Best of luck. Why 8 weeks?

Oh and if the B sample comes back positive, Frank is alleging poisoning! (Um, I can well believe that he isn’t on PEDs, anyway…) Given that xipamide is a diuretic, (and ironic given the wording of your request) someone is indeed ‘taking the piss’. Perhaps the French cows were due a doping control…or something.
