There were a crucial couple of words omitted from the original headline when it was posted above:

E-scooter riders almost always get drunk when they crash at night, study finds

    ….

And at night, more than nine in 10 injured scooter users were drunk

When you do your first ride, take the tool you need for adjusting the cleats and tweak if you get any knee discomfort or it just feels unnatural.

But if you do, remember to tighten them up properly after you’ve finished adjusting them – otherwise disaster awaits.

Totally agree about political parties and I think we should bin them and the first-past-the-post system.

How do you ban both FPTP and politcal parties? If each individual is standing on their own merits and not as part of a party then proportional representation is not valid.

You could still have an alternative / transferable vote or run-off type system, though.

Looks like it may well be a pro forma that expects the vehicle to be a car – where it says PEDALCYCLE would be where the vehicle reg would go – and whoever issued it didn’t pay enough attention to amend the penalty details.

Unfortunately the thread (and a couple of others it seems) has been left-hooked and now no-one’s thinking about what we were doing before that.

Yep – perhaps now we can get back to nailing down the arrangements for the next Evil Cycling Lobby meeting.

I’m always told that a majority of cyclists are drivers, well if that’s the case I can tell you a majority of drivers are poor. Anyone in this thread up for a free assessment drive with me? Time to put your cards on the table.

I’m pretty sure that almost everybody here is already aware that the majority of drivers are poor, so I’m not sure what that would be proving. That’s kind of a large part of the problem.

[Though your logic is a bit flawed – even if every cyclist was a poor driver, they still wouldn’t represent a majority of drivers. The fact that most drivers are poor doesn’t have much to do with whether or not they’re cyclists.]

    If there is sufficient cycle

If there is sufficient cycle traffic that you regularly feel intimidated by its proximity, then probably adding separation lines isn’t really enough. They’re of limited use, given that neither cyclists or pedestrians can be relied upon to remain on ‘their side’, and typically there isn’t enough room to pass another path user without crossing the line. There would be a good case for campaigning for the council to provide dedicated cycle facilities that would separate both modes entirely and likely make both lots of people happier.
