Is it this or just sentancing

Is it this or just sentancing guidelines.

If we , say, stuck two zeros on every speeding fine or a minimum of £1000 a mph over the limit plus car impounding until paid things might change. This would be for “minor” offences. Any injury would be mandatory prison + social punishment for many years. Maybe life ban on car ownership etc.

We are just too soft as a society.

    Thats for a masters? Jeez.

Thats for a masters? Jeez.  My 9 year old class would ask better questions.

A couple of questions on sustainability. May or may not have relevance but surely thats a universal almost given nowadays.

Rest are ridiculous as current bike bottles do all of that so could be assumed as a given.

OP. Go to a bike shop. Buy a cycling water bottle . Copy it.

    Still us the old Specialized

Still us the old Specialized Hardrock as a pub and fun bike. Hesitate to call 1989 old actually. 30 years is not old unless you are a nipper. Plenty of other older kit in use but not frequently (on a weekly basis maybe) .

    Cugel has it.

    Cugel has it.

To ay otherwise is daft. What about all those riders coming up behind to pass you? Oh of course the OP is to fast for that.  Equally too selfish to consider that giving a minor tow may be sociable.  Of course he is in a very important race so the rest don’t matter. Pillock to spout off like that. Ah well, not everyone is out of their teenage years yet

Rear in mind that there is no

Rear in mind that there is no legal requirement to have a chap with a shovel and broom following bthe tractor to have an instant clean up. This means that there may be mud on the road.  It is allowed.

Naturally all sensible people ride and drive to the conditions so if you have a problem you were not.  Just slow down or even get off and walk.

To my mind the agrioculural community has a far greater right to be on the roads, muck and all than a bunch of selfish cyclists out for a jolly. I include myself here.

Its the country side. I assume that those complaining are also moaning about those who leave glass on the road, or diesel or phone masts that screw the country side. Not just one of the above but all of them at the same time.

    Drag one,  pulse one then

Drag one,  pulse one then swap. There are times when the “let them loose then brake hard” doesn’t work. That builds up speed which you can then lose but some times you don’t want that speed. I found my hydros over heating coming off the Bealach na Ba but the road wasn’t safe enough for me to let the brakes off. Dragging was the only option.

    Too harsh?!!!!!

it is crap like that which has created our pathetic society today. He should lose his licence for life. Should be aware of consequence before committing a crime. Life ban with at leat  zeros on the fine.

    Legend has it that twiddling

Legend has it that twiddling is better for dodgy knees. Not for me. I need some load to stop mine hurting.

Now we have wandered into car

Now we have wandered into car safety I can rant a bit more. Why the hell can I not, should I wish to, buy a car without all these silly safety feature?  Best car owned. Landrovers. Sodding great big bumper stopped silly expensive scratches for example.

They were a great idea and people avoided coming so close to my LR.

Don’t accept, before some one starts, the idea that pedestrian safety is an issue. I can’t find the link but a year or two back it was published that something like 90% + of all pedestrian/car collisions were the pedestrians fault so why should a car driver have to pay for that?  Same with a cyclist. A nudge with a feather pillow will still knock you off you bike.

The pro helmet people are actually missing a point. It’ s no one elses business but mine if I wear a helmet and suffer if I am hurt because I don’t. Our government has a moral duty NOT to have any influence on us.

Bit like seat belts I guess.

Bit like seat belts I guess. My fathers generation need to be reminded to use them, mine sticks them on most of the time and my neice would put her on like she picks up her phone.

Compulsion and fear of getting caught has brought this about.

I suspect that it will depend

I suspect that it will depend on the shop and  thats fair. To suggest that any decent shop will take your parts and fit them is over simplifying things. Each will have its own business model and the customer has to accept that by complying or going elsewhere.  A shop that makes its profit on parts may not want to see you , especially if you rarely visit are bringing parts that they stock. A regular customer bringing in something thats not their normal stock may have a different response.  Which are you. If it’s a no then just accept it without hard feelings.

We have no right to expect any business to deal with our individual needs. On a different note, spend the money on an instruction book. It’s only a bike and thus needs virtually no expensive and rarely used tools.  Fix it yourself and thus remove the need to ask the question.

Unless he has some very wierd

Unless he has some very wierd Dutch rims in, so called 28″ is also 700c and thus smaller than 27″ . Just look at the markings on so many tyres.

If the axle slot is a slot the wheel will move fore and aft. If it’s vertical then it won’t and there is a simple tyre clearance issue due to the era of the bike. It could have been built as a TT bike for example with 19mm tyres in mind. If its horizontal then it will move. After all the wheel must go in so must have some clearance as it moves back, even a touch, to locate.
