Apple have thought of that too – the tag starts beeping occasionally if it’s been away from it’s owner for a while or reported lost!

Would only work as an anti

Would only work as an anti-theft device if the thief didn’t have an iPhone. There’s an ‘anti-tracking’ feature whereby your iPhone will alert you if it notices a tag that’s following your movements but is not registered to you. Likely it wouldn’t be too long before the thief realises it’s being tracked.

It also lacks the movement detection that bike-specific trackers have, so that would delay you getting notified that something is up. Not sure if you can set a GPS ringfence on it, but would be surprised if not.

That said, it’s discreet, cheapish and low maintenance. If you can find somewhere to stash it that’s not going to interfere with the radio signal too much (i.e. away from and not enclosed by metal), then it’s a lot better than nowt.

Good stop on a lakes ride is Chesters in Skelwith Bridge, but can get busy (veggie only, but cakes make up for the lack of bacon).

    Some more details in The

Some more details in The Chronicle.

There was evidence that he had been using his mobile phone when driving shortly before the collision, but they couldn’t prove he was using it at the time of the collision. I think there needs to be a rethink about how this is dealt with, as it’s very difficult to prove timings. Use of a phone shortly before an incident ought to be deemed to be a contributary factor by default – with the burden to prove otherwise on the defendant.

As for if they had been a cyclist – well, the victim crossed the road without looking and against a red pedestrian crossing light whilst wearing headphones. I have no doubt that if they had been on a bike, he would have got away without a prison term – despite the severe lack of attention and excessive speed.

Same – picture quality was quite good, but damn it’s fiddly to use and a total inconveniece as a ‘dashcam’. Shimano abandoned it, so no spare batteries or accessories were available.

I just bit the bullet and got the Cycliq (older models, on discount when the new CE’s came out) and apart from a shonky battery on the Fly6 that I had to DIY replace after 14 months, they’ve been solid. Nothing else comes close in terms of convenience for using daily.

The leniency shown by the courts in this case is disgusting. The failure of the police/CPS to bring appropriate charges even more so.

Yet another driver who should not have been on the roads at all.

You have my deep sympathy for the trauma this despicable individual has caused to you and your family.

    Given that context, it’s perfect!

It all starts just because we are different, an outgroup. From that point it’s all downhill.

Bad choice of metaphor, ‘all downhill’ is actually a positive thing when it comes to cycling

But I agree. It comes from a lack of understanding. A bit like when people say they hate maths.

I think modern cars are so

I think modern cars are so good at isolating you from the elements, that whilst they’re comfortable, they’re also less engaging to drive.

If I had a classic sports car then it might be a bit different.

Hate is a product of fear.

Hate is a product of fear. Fear is born of the unknown. Cyclists are the unknown.

Good point. If I’m driving and stuck in traffic, I always get out and ask the drivers behind the purpose of their journey. If it’s more important than mine I let them pass.

If I disable javascript, I get the behaviour you describe (images not loading, three blobs, text only). In some browsers, it is possible to disable javascript on a per website basis. I wonder if this has somehow happened on your computer?

Could be a javascript blocker your end? Try a different browser?

Or maybe a DNS cache issue? Maybe try changing your DNS server to google’s 8.8.8.8?

He pleaded guilty to the lesser offence of death by careless driving. So will be sentenced for that tomorrow.

I guess one downside to winning the lottery is you lose the financial hardship plea…

I wouldn’t go as far as saying terrible. I’ve been using them successfully for years. I’m sure the more recent Go Pro’s have better image quality, but the Cycliq cameras win in other areas, such as battery life and ease of use as a day-to-day ‘dashcam’.
