NO, Manchester is the “home”
NO, Manchester is the “home” of British cycling, if they want to sort it out, then fine.I am against the government giving more money out to paint some marks on the road and “make cycling safer” until a proper NATIONAL plan is in place, not just region by region. It needs to be a nation wide plan, so that EVERYONE is singing from the same sheet, else we will have huge differences in what local area’s put in place.

I think this is going to be a nothing story, just keep your eyes peeled, it seems to be a tax/legal dodge somewhere along the line. It will be interesting to see what comes of it. But I think its a nothing story and just to reveal to EVERYONE (who didn’t already know) who was behind the website and twitter account 😉 😉Gkam84
I can’t speak highly enough
I can’t speak highly enough of these guys, I shipped my trike from N/E Scotland right down to near Brighton for a sportive and it arrived perfectly even after my dodgy packing and I sent it back again after the sportive.http://www.directcouriersolutions.co.uk/bicycles.php
It was TNT who came and picked it up from me and shipped it on behalf of DCS, having priced it on TNT it would have cost me £78 with decent insurance, with DCS it cost me alot less, even with insurance. The only problem is, the value of the trike being WELL over their £3k limit. But I was alright with that.
NO issues are all. I wouldn’t touch paisley with a barge pole from issues I’ve had in the past with them.

As a new sportive, you would
As a new sportive, you would be wise to put on more than one route. Yes this might be a pain, but it will attract more people. If you look at most sportive’s these days, The have at least two, normally three routes. You will always get the people who want to push themselves round a massive course, but you will always get more looking to do a nice leisurely ride with friends and other like minded people. 😉

So you were drafting him,
So you were drafting him, then you got to a downhill, took a turn on the front and were annoyed because he was drafting you. You have to remember, you were going downhill, everyone pops and extra couple of gears to get more speed going down 😀 So he was most likely staying with your because of that. Also, you mention, he was pulling away at points, so if it got a bit flatter, he would have been keeping with you easy.
I wouldn’t worry about it, seems you both had a turn pulling each other, if you seem him again, try pushing another gear or so and try and drop him totally if you are a bit annoyed 😉

Ok, FIRST thing, Is your
Ok, FIRST thing, Is your chain lubed up?Secondly, do you have a chain checker? If not, head along to a LBS (Local bike shop) and have them check it it for you. It checks for the stretch and wear of the chain.
Thirdly, If you are at the LBS, get them to have a look at the cassette.
Fourthly, If it does come down to upgrading both, its simple enough, I or many others here can do a step by step instructional for you or there are many video’s and text’s out there to show you how. Chain is simple, cassette you will need a chain whip and cassette tool.
Fifthly, IF you need to replace both, why not just stick to what you have if its worked this long, why spend more money that you need to?
You can get the cassette for £16 (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=387) and a SRAM/KMC chain for the same sort of price.
Unless you are looking to gear your bike differently, more climbing range or a lower cog to get a little more speed?
That should get you started, just shout if you want any more info or help along the way :B

I’ll keep an eye on gumtree
I’ll keep an eye on gumtree and ebay, but is there not a market that is well known in London for selling on stolen bikes and many people have gone there, paid a tiny amount and got their bike back…. -
