Yeah, the wind did for them
Yeah, the wind did for them today, massive gusts broke it up and Quickstep ended up with 4/9 in the final run in.
I did enjoy seeing the Molteni Volvo racing alongside on the other side of the railway tracks and also a Quickstep car with a PA system calling out time gaps to Lampaert.
I transferred out Lawless, he went and took last place…DOH

Shite, it was looking good
Shite, it was looking good for MVDP, then he ended up in a ditch. The wind has decided this race. I’m watching it from the Luxembourg feed, Jempy is right up there, so it’s entertaining…

The layout does suck, has for
The layout does suck, has for a long time. Even the news stories aren’t getting anywhere near the number of comments that used to be seen. Apart from the odd thing that causes a stir and brings the trolls out.
I don’t use other cycling sites because their quality of reporting was lackluster at best. Cycling Weakly is a shambles, Cycling News does ok. Road.cc is heading down the weakly way. It’s sad, as some of the reporters here are good at what they do.

He’s not out of it by any
He’s not out of it by any means, but I think plan B will be actioned, with Woods riding for both and ultimately as the race progresses, either Carthy or Martinez will be shown as strong, with all weight being put behind one. Carthy is a decent rider and has been showing it for a few years, whether he’s good enough to challenge for GC, I’m not sure yet as he hasn’t really been tested like that.

I would agree, but then I saw
I would agree, but then I saw that Ag2r have lost two riders today. Ouch.
Woods is 18 minutes down, Froome and Ion Izagirre are 11 minutes down. I’d say unless you are in the top 40 on GC today at 4.30ish you are not winning La Vuelta.

Froome off the back, he’s
Froome off the back, he’s cooked already, no team mates or support

Woods comes to grief on road
Woods comes to grief on road furniture poles. EF aren’t having a great start to La Vuelta. He waved his team mates off aswell. Similar to what Martinez did.

Martinez was in a crash and
Martinez was in a crash and hurt his ankle, has got back in but looks sore.
Mathias Frank and IIan van Wilder have abandoned already, don’t know if they were in a crash or not.

Both, I’ve gone for something
Both, I’ve gone for something different as I CBA with racing at the moment, it shouldn’t be happening. I’ve got my purist squad and my standard the same, so both will run “as is” until someone isn’t there and I can replace them in my standard. See how I get on.

Froome is valued at 3.0 and I
Froome is valued at 3.0 and I still wouldn’t pick him.

Evens it out though, 3 Covid
Evens it out though, 3 Covid and 3 crashes. Now what will Ganna and Fuglsang do to themselves in the last week? Does everyone want a heads up for Vuleta of who to avoid…

It could only be Gaviria,
It could only be Gaviria, here is why…I’ve only got 2 riders left in my purist…

Flanders was looking good for
Flanders was looking good for a MVDP vs WVA vs Alaphilippe. Then a jury moto got in the way….I could here Patrick Lefevere from here…

I’m really not sure. It looks
I’m really not sure. It looks like ASO/UCI are just going to plough on as usual and the Spanish government seem to be allowing them so far. Teams and officials are mainly on the ground in and around Irun now ready for the race to begin on Tuesday, whether it or Giro gets to finish their full compliment of stages is still to be seen.
I’m not sure Madrid Challenge will happen, womens teams pulled out of Flanders because of the lack of protocols being followed, both by the race and other teams. There was no way to call it secure.
