    I’d say 50/50.

You say you’re hazy on the rules of the road. It’s worth learning them. It’s also worth reading up on cycling – and you might have been more wary of this happening. Next time it coukd be worse.

I did it on my winter/cross
I did it on my winter/cross bike. With bombproof 32mm Marathon tyres on. So no puncture problems. Was a good event I thought – I think I spent 70% of the ride on the small ring. Sure theres just 12 sections of cobbles – but theres a lot of hills.
And some hills are cobbled too. Didnt attempt Corkscrew as it was too congested at the start and not very clear on the route. Walked it up just to see though.

Last hill – Beeston Brow foiled me too – got about half way before an attack of cramp convinced me to walk the rest.

That beer was nice at the finish.

    I rode 140 miles in a day
I rode 140 miles in a day when I was 16 – just to prove that I could.

I did take energy bars – much better eating something than having those sickly gel things.

Are you riding it solo ? Do you need to navigate ? What are the roads ? Any back up ?

Time in the saddle and keeping it comfy will be the key. So if you can say ride 80 miles in one day you should be good to go. Pace yourself and prepare for punctures etc.

    Have fun !

Why would it crash into the frame ? How close is it ? It might bend a bit under power but I doubt you can put it into the frame.

A mileage target seems a bit random. Train smartly and ride quality miles rather than junk.

I regularly do 100 mile plus
I regularly do 100 mile plus rides. I run marathons only about three times a year. I’d say very roughly it’s about 5 x harder per mile run to cycling. And the London 100 sounds like a major draft fest – that’s more like a fast half marathon.

I rate dhb shorts – never liked the Aldi shorts though. I do like the Aldi jackets though. I rate them as good as assos and better than the rapha winter jersey.

The local tv had an article
The local tv had an article on drivers speeding past a primary school. If caught it was £100 fine or go and be interviewed by a panel of school kids. One of their pals was killed by a van going at 20 mph last year. He was five. Heart breaking stuff.

Photos of the cracked frames or its just hearsay.

I’m on three Px frames now and they’re possibly the most popular bike for triathlons.

They’re cheap cos they haven’t the overheads of the bigger brands and sell direct through their shops. They aren’t going to take short cuts.

Imagine coming off the bike with a spark plug in your back pocket – That could do you some damage.

You’re a muppet if you think it wise to attack a car even if the car is driven by a nob.
