I’ve not had a single Creme Egg this year. This formulation change is bound to cost them lots of profit ! 🙂

“the van driver picked my bike up for me, apologised profusely, and I let him drive off. ”

How long should he wait ? The OP says he let him drive off ?

Maybe its not against the Highway Code – but it is against common sense to be so close to a vehicle that you cant be seen, I’d rather be alive than morally correct.

But the OP let the driver drive off ? Would anyone in the drivers position really think to go and report an incident with no apparent damage or injury to the police ?

I reckon yes the driver was at fault – but so was the cyclist. Luckily no more damage than a buckled wheel which is a few mins work to sort ?

Hopefully they’ve both learnt a lesson with little damage done.

Hard to say – but you can get a brand new one for £800. I dont think this one is going to be a real bargain.

Where do you stop ? I’ve been cycling over 30 years and never take my lock with me on a weekend ride. It’s all about finding the right stops. Don’t stop in cities for instance.

And that’s why you point out debris in the road.
Was the rider in front not doing this?

    A mamil run I guess?

    STI is Shimano Total Integration

I don’t believe Campag have adjustable reach on their levers sadly. Maybe differently shaped bars could bring the levers closer ? Cheaper way of doing it ?

Oh maybe a bit late for you
Oh maybe a bit late for you but if it’s a jacket you’re after not sure the gabba is the one.
For spring or autumn rides it’s good but not for the longer winter rides. It’s just not substantial enough unless you’re going flat out – for me anyway. I got caught in a biblical rainstorm in September in it and had to get to a cafe to warm up.

Check out the dhb windslam jersey. They say it’s a jersey but it seems more like a jacket to me – and it’s £50.

IMFR is always a crash fest
IMFR is always a crash fest on the hair pins. I can only assume it’s people misjudging their speed and abilities.

As I say something like spinach. Minimal weight and if you’re only using them for a short time you don’t need arm rests.

If this is the first such
If this is the first such incident in six years then I’m not sure I’d go with the penalty of wearing body armour…

If there’s ice around – I won’t go out cycling. Bikes and ice aren’t a happy mix.
Spend an hour or 90 mins on the turbo instead. Get trainerroad and its a satisfying and targeted way to spend some time – and probably better than just ‘getting the miles in’.

I know sometimes you’ll find ice when you didnt expect to – but thats a rare occurrence and not every crash will break a hip. Once the hip is healed – you should be stronger anyway ?

You could go MTBing off road to avoid the ice – but thats another area of accident to have.

I’d not class cycling as dangerous.
