This week, we’re diving into the world of next-gen cycling tech. From a new bike computer by Swiss start-up Jespr aiming to take on the market leaders, to Unit 1’s reversible smart lights that can be used as either front or rear lightsAlso out for review is another electric mini pump, a bottle cage with built-in Apple AirTag tracker, and Wahoo’s radar light system for real-time traffic awareness. Check out all the previews below, with full reviews coming soon…

Jespr Cycling Computer (CHF 540.00 ~£485)

The Jespr Cycling Computer is primed to upset the cycling computer market from the Swiss start-up company (according to Jespr, anyway). It has a high-resolution touch-screen display that measures around four inches, larger than both the Garmin Edge 1050 and Wahoo Elemnt Ace.

The computer offers on-the-fly navigation, allowing riders to pick a destination mid-ride. Additional features include live wind data, bike radar integration for real-time traffic alerts, and integrated mobile connectivity via an in-device Sim.

Jespr claims a runtime of seven hours, which is in fact lower than both the Garmin Edge 1050 and Wahoo Elmnt Ace; but nevertheless, we’ll be intrigued to see if it really can compete with the bike computer big guns.

Electric mini pumps are growing in popularity, offering a compact and efficient solution for quickly inflating tyres. The Inflata Pro S claims to inflate up to 120psi (8.3 bar) in seconds and fully recharge in 30 minutes.

Compatible with both Presta and Schrader valves, it weighs in at 152g on the road.cc Scales of Truth.

Jez is currently putting it to the test, so check back in a couple of weeks to see if it’s good enough to replace his trusty mini pump and CO2 inflator.

The Unit 1 Smart Light Pro Dual includes two Smart Lights and a charging case. Each light can function as either a front or rear light, delivering 100 lumens of white light or 50 lumens of red, depending on your setup.

Measuring 125mm in length, the lights attach magnetically to a variety of mounts included in the box, allowing you to secure them to your handlebar, seatpost, saddle, or helmet.

The included charging case works much like an AirPods case, keeping both lights together and charging them on the go. They’re also compatible with Unit 1’s navigation remote (sold separately) which we are also reviewing, unlocking smart features like turn signals and brake lights.

The tracker has a replaceable battery with a claimed six-month lifespan and features an IP65 waterproof rating to protect it from the elements. The total weight of this secure bottle cage is 58g.

Wahoo’s Trackr Radar is a rear light and radar system that can detect approaching drivers up to 150m behind, according to Wahoo. It increases the flash pattern accordingly and also features a built-in accelerometer that “allows the unit to function as a brake light”, getting brighter when a rider slows down.

The Trackr integrates with Wahoo Elemnt head units and other Bluetooth or ANT+ bike computers.

Iwein is putting this one to the test, so check back soon to see how it performs.
