Launched at the end of last year and based in California, Peloton magazine has quickly established a loyal fan base on both sides of the Atlantic through some excellent coverage of the top-level road racing scene, great photography, insightful interviews and sometimes quirky articles, a recent celebration of the humble Belgian frite being particularly memorable.
Now, it has released its first film, Pillars of Italian Cycling, a 35-minute celebration of some of the country’s most renowned brands, focusing on bike makers Bianchi, Wilier and Carrera, tyre maker Vittoria, clothing firm Castelli and saddle manufacturer Fizik.
The beautifully shot film, which you can watch here, takes you behind the scenes at some of those companies’ factories and includes interviews with the people behind the brands plus some of those who use them, including legendary names such as Felice Gimondi, who rode Bianchi while winning the Tour de France, Vuelta and Giro d’Italia as well as the World Championships.

Good stuff, particularly the
Good stuff, particularly the wilier and vittoria sections.
So basically blazing a trail
So basically blazing a trail already well trodden, or should that be ridden, by Rouleur 😉

Well, it’s a big world out there and there’s lots of stories to cover and consequently room for everyone.
If anything it sits somewhere between Rouleur and something like ProCycling in terms of balance of articles between say coverage of contemporary pro scene and historical or more esoteric articles.
Certainly not as reassuringly thick and heavy as Rouleur, but it’s not a lightweight when it comes to content.
At around £32 for a subscription to print and online copies for a year (including delivery to UK) it’s pretty good value too.
Well said and thats for how
Well said and thats for how many issues ? I’m in Singapore now, so will look into how it might ship here. I’ll drop them a line.

No Colnago, No Sidi? Love
No Colnago, No Sidi? Love the all the handmade stuff for Bianchi when probably most of their bikes are made anywhere but Italia. Fizik though is a class act.
