The question should be why can't the white vans easily get around London? Answer: It's all the people who could easily be on bikes because they're only carrying an iphone and a sandwich, but they're blocking the roads in a Range Rover and blaming cyclists for the traffic.

I've worked in IT for quite a few years now and quite often take tools, cables etc. and laptop with me on the touring bike when going to site. Try to get big box stuff delivered where I can. Sometimes take bike on train when site is more than 5-10miles away. Doesn't always work and have to use the car, but it is possible a lot of the time. Most customers seem to like it, it's often an ice breaker.

@IanMK It's a common fallacy that driving laws don't apply in car parks. They are accessible to the general public, and driving in them is subject to the same laws as anywhere else. If you want to neck a bottle of whisky from Tesco and do donuts in the car park, you can still be convicted of drink driving.

@Terry Hutt they were on a vehicle that was limited to maximum speed of 10mph, it's almost impossible that they were going "too fast to stop" - and indeed the defence doesn't even appear to have tried to argue that. Instead appear to have queried the possibility that he "didn't realise in time that she was stationary". Which is a pretty staggering claim. But the prosecution "expert witness" appears to have agreed this was a possibility. Which makes me wonder how many stationary cyclists this expert witness has actually seen. They are really quite difficult to mistake for moving cyclists. Or how familiar he is with the vehicles moving at 10mph. That's over 1/3 slower than the maximum legal ebike speed. To state the obvious, It's really not very fast - and you would have to be very distracted indeed to be unable to stop in time But there we go - Centreparcs is now on a mission to ensure that its staff are made safer, by ... *checks notes* ... encouraging staff on stationary bikes to always ensure they have a helmet on. Because that's what will make the difference.

Because I seen to remember you disagreeing with loads of minority ethnic people publicly in the past. Or are people allowed to disagree with right-leaning ethnic minorities but not left-leaning ones? @lesterama Indeed. The essence really does not boil down to a sticker even if that is the only uniquely Colnago in these bikes. The Steelnovo is more like it - wish they'd make a review here (being a ROAD bike and all) - just for shits and giggles - I could not afford that one either.

@Rendel Harris no idea what you're talking about. I'd have said the same about any number of politicians in the UK, including some in the Tory party, regardless of their race. So not a "racism" issue at all, just a common sense issue, and how typical of you to see something that doesn't exist. If you watched the video rather than throwing insults around, you'd notice the guy she was arguing against was black. I'm assuming you don't agree with him, but I wouldn't be so childish to shout "racism" if you said so out loud. It's just a way for you to ignore the substantive content of the post. We have massive issues all over the UK and Europe, turning countries into powder kegs of civil unrest, yet some politicians obsess about non-sensical stuff like this, when the clear outcome of pushing people onto unsuitable forms of transport would be worse growth, more unemployment and therefore fewer tax receipts and lower government spending power on the things we need. Yet this takes place with the blessing of many local voters who appear to live in ivory towers, blissfully unaware of how many people actually live, work and function. This is - after all - the same city that spawned politicians like Jeremy Corbyn and so forth... And I'm pretty sure Jeremy Corbyn is a white British guy.

Looking at the vid, Munge has a point. Once the light starts to fail why stack the odds outside your favour? You can make your point that drivers SHOULD see you in your ninja gear and maybe they should but the reality is they need a helping hand. God knows what sort of people are out there.
I had eye surgery the other day and whilst I was walking back to the car (wife drove!) with a patch on one eye and the other blurred to hell, I said to her “I bet there’s people out there with worse sight than me at the moment”. I bet there are. Don’t become a pair of shoes you see at the last moment. Maybe you can’t get Rapha in hi-viz but whatever.
