We all started somewhere ... let's hope kid in Galicia picked himself up and persevered...

Here's a cute video from Spain's Galicia region that shows a toddler come a cropper as he tries to follow some older kids at a cycling school in leaping over a cyclo-cross hurdle while holding his balance bike - and doesn't quite make it.

It was uploaded to social media by the Escuela de Ciclismo José Antonio Hermida in Maceda, which teaches kids mountain biking and cyclo-cross skills.

In the post, they wonder if we might be looking at a future Sven Nys.

Well, practice makes perfect, and however expert a rider any of us is, we've all had plenty of spills in our past, so let's hope he perseveres!

Born in Scotland, Simon moved to London aged seven and now lives in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds with his miniature schnauzer, Elodie. He fell in love with cycling one Saturday morning in 1994 while living in Italy when Milan-San Remo went past his front door. A daily cycle commuter in London back before riding to work started to boom, he's been news editor at road.cc since 2009. Handily for work, he speaks French and Italian. He doesn't get to ride his Colnago as often as he'd like, and freely admits he's much more adept at cooking than fettling with bikes.
