Sir Chris Hoy's latest kids' book announced

On Your Bike will offer practical and fun advice for kids on anything from how to choose a bike to how to pull a wheelie

Sir Chris Hoy’s latest book will be published next month, this time a cycling guide for kids.

On Your Bike, a children’s guide to choosing and maintaining their bike, is due out on 20 October with tips, tricks and space for the reader to record their cycling progress.

The spiral-bound book will feature characters from Hoy’s Flying Fergus series, illustrated by Clare Elsom, with technical drawings, diagrams and photographs of Hoy cycling as a youngster, and is already available to pre-order from Amazon

Chris Hoy turns author with kids' books series

Sir Chris Hoy says: "I'm so excited to be working in partnership with Piccadilly Press on my first non-fiction book for children. I hope that On Your Bike will introduce children - and parents - to the joy of cycling, providing a fun, informative and accessible guide to making the most of your bike."

Emma Matthewson, publishing director at Piccadilly Press, said: “We are so proud to be publishing this brilliant 'how to' cycle book for children. Who could be better to introduce your child to cycling than the much loved Olympian Sir Chris Hoy? The videos and tips make this a great fun, must-have book for any parent and child wanting to get the most out of cycling.”

The book helps kids choose a bike, clothing and kit, as well as providing step-by-step diagrams of how to change a tyre and check your bike for wear and tear. There is also bonus footage of Sir Chris showing step by step how to perfect skills including a wheelie, and suggests some fun racing games.

The fifth book in the Flying Fergus series, “The Winning Team”, is due to be published February 2017. The books are a collaboration between Hoy and Joanna Nadin and illustrated by Clare Elsom.

"Never judge a book by its cover."  Well, I'm going to.

Seems to be just another publication promoting helmets. despite the fact that children have been strangled by their helmets and there is no evidence they have saved one.  When is there going to be a book telling the truth, rather than naked helmet advertising?

My daughter fell off once, put a nice big dent in the front of the helmet (the stone was actually lodged in it) which we then replaced. Where can I report this incident so it can be statistically compiled?

Thx

Sorry JeevesBath, no need, it appears those pesky Australians have already attempted to compile those stats. What audacity!

Not that I'd believe a word of it. It's propaganda to fuel book and helmet sales and nothing more!

You know, I'd never even thought of that. I just thought it was a book for kids about bikes, with a pretty cr@ppy cover illustration...

funny, cause what i took away from the cover is that chris hoy is a shill for the spanner industry. it's just blatant.

Does it include how expensive that Dura Ace chainset on the front cover is. That'll be a whole summer's worth of paper rounds kids laugh
