Marco Pinotti joins Cadence Performance coaching team

Italian will combine role with ongoing coaching work for BMC

Marco Pinotti, former pro and one of the world’s top cycling coaches, has joined Cadence Performance in London as their new director of performance. The Italian will combine the role with his work in the sports science division of the BMC team, where he is responsible for the time trial team.

Pinotti has had links with Cadence for a number of years now. He has previously been involved with the firm’s Performance Weekender training events and held time trial technique training days. His new role will see him lead a Cadence team comprising three sports scientists and six coaches who will be offering a range of fitness testing services to customers of all abilities.

The four-time Italian time trial champion is a multiple stage winner at the Giro d’Italia and wore the Maglia Rosa in 2011 after his HTC team took the opening team time trial. As a coach, he oversaw BMC’s world team time trial wins in 2014 and 2015 and also coached New Zealander Linda Villumsen who became the women’s individual time trial world champion in 2015.

Speaking about his new role, he said: “I am delighted to join the team at Cadence. I first visited here three years ago, not long after it was established and saw the business in its infancy. It is great to see how it has grown and evolved to what it is today. The team here at Cadence are fanatical about doing a great job and I share this attention to detail. The centre is unique because of the range of services it offers and I’m looking forward to leading Cadence to the next stage of its evolution”

Frank Beechinor, the firm’s CEO said: “It is a fantastic coup for us to have Marco join our team. Not only has he an accomplished riding career behind him he is also one of the world’s top cycling performance coaches. His strategic direction will help Cadence become one of the best coaching organisations in the UK, and one of the few offering the complete range of coaching and testing services all under one roof”.

Alex has written for more cricket publications than the rest of the road.cc team combined. Despite the apparent evidence of this picture, he doesn't especially like cake.
