While many may have raised an eyebrow at the £49 cost, Sky Sports reports that tickets to see Sir Bradley Wiggins attempt to break the Hour Record sold out in just seven minutes.

Wiggins’ attempt is scheduled for June 7 at Lee Valley VeloPark. Tickets went on general sale yesterday at 10am, priced between £29 and £49, and reportedly sold out almost immediately. The arena holds 6,000 people.

Lee Valley VeloPark manager Jeremy Northrop said:

“We haven't seen tickets sell out so fast since London 2012. Everyone remembers the magic of that year, and this idea of seeing Sir Bradley go flat out for an hour is something that really captured the public’s imagination.”

Before his attempt to better Rohan Dennis’s 52.491 kilometre effort, Wiggins will ride the Tour de Yorkshire for his new team, Team Wiggins from May 1. Team Sky will also be taking part, as will four other WorldTour teams.
